This car has been for sale for years. The color doesn't do it for me. It seems to be sale proof or at least not bring anywhere near what the buyer wants. It's been offered by many NY dealers. Maybe they think someone on the WC will step up but I wouldn't.

I agree the color is off and the car is somewhat of an odd ball: The front turn signals are Euro, the rest of the car is US spec. Also it looks as if it is missing the driver side mirror. Why they set such a high reserve is beyond me.

Here's another one for you: The front treatment is indicative of the earliest spiders: The pop up lamps and the section in between is painted and reminds of the plexi Berlinettas. Later models had this section painted in body color.

Maybe therein lies the answer to the high reserve/price: This car is somewhat unique in the evolution from the Berlinetta to the Spider to the US version of the Spider.

Note the rear reflector at the end, that is clearly US spec.

    Jim,
Are you sure this is the same one Tony P. has had for sale? I think that one was brown/tan whereas this one is bronze.

"Marrone Metallic" 1400 miles? I think it's the one that several NY dealer's have been trying to sell for years.

Winged KO's aren't US legal after 1967. They must have nuts. Spinning KO's were ruled to be too dangerous to pedistrians and other cars.

14383 is the first US Daytona Spyder (second one to touch US soil)... This is not the marrone Daytona Spyder everyone's thinking of... This car hasn't been for sale in ages...

The marrone one is S/N 17013 and has been for sale in 1986, 1999 (2x), 2000, 2002 (2x), 2003 (2x), 2004 (2x) and has been seen in a bunch of different places with a bunch of different people...

One of the cool things Gerald pointed out to me about 14383 is that the data plate on the steering column says 365 GTB/4 (which Ferrari did on all the US Daytona Spyders), but another data plate, elsewhere on the car, says 365 GTS/4...

Everbody has heard of the incredibly high numbers of maimings and deaths caused by winged KO's. It's amazing that they let them come into the states for as long as they did!!! :D

    NNO,
Thanks for clarifying the two cars. Now, what is the official color of the ebay car(bronze) vs the other car(brown) you mentioned?

Um, my rough interpretation would be as follows:

Externally finished in marrone; internally finished in beige...

17013; NOT the one on eBay...

Yes, the eBay car, 14383, is Nocciola with a Nero interior... i once heard it referred to as "Fong" gold...

The other car, 17013, is marrone, which sort of looks like a dark brown...

    Marrone "Dino" Metallizzato, 106-M-73...

Is that that Fukin Marrone spider with almost no miles again! First it was offered by owner, then it went to some NY dealer or two on consignment, then it was up at Paradise Garage in Limerock for sale, then i forgot who offered it next. (Did autosport designs have it for a while, and what about Nick Corleone, i mean, soprano?)
It's probably a nice car, but i'd take the black one at WW if i was going to overpay for a GTS.
