carrera gt..prices dropping already?

Meh, still ugly though.

The 959 was far nicer looking.

 

I couldnt stand the 959, The 993 & 996 turbos are much nicer

I think the CGT is gorgeous. I don't know about it being a steal at $300K. What does an F50 go for these days?

I read that article in Sports Car International where the owner was going to already sell his because the clutch just made the car impossible to drive. That and the low ground clearance.

I think that the fact the car is practically undrivable will eventually define it as a lemon. Sorry, just my take on it.

 

I had read nightmares about the clutch also. Time will tell how that plays out.

 

This is one person's take on the clutch, although he isn't alone from what I've heard as well. Many other owners have warmed up to the clutch and have realized that it's very drivable. Visit 6speedonline, there have been many discussions regarding the change of heart some have had regarding the clutch.

The car is low, but the 996TT with aerokit also has the same approach angle problems and related factors as the CGT.

 

Carrera GT isn't limited that's why prices drop. Ferrari only made a small number of Enzos. I dunno how many SLR's are made...nor do i care.

 

What about the Algar car ?

Not really. Having driven both IMO the CGT is a great car, the 220 is an interesting car at best. (Not commenting on looks)

 

The Carrera GT is the most amazing street car of its era.

 

There does seem to suddenly be a glut of them on the market. Perhaps as many as 6 or 7 for sale in the AutoWeek classified all in the $400-$420k range. I believe they are building 1000/year for 3 years. It is a stunning piece of machinery both in terms of sex appeal and engineering detail, and that sound in out of this world.

 

Didn't the CGT break all kind of records at Nurburgring for a street car?

IIRC the CGT uses a Tilton carbon/carbon clutch which I would imagine can take some getting used to. I read an article about how Leno bought a CGT just for the clutch since he was tired of dealing with 10K mile clutchs in his other exotics. Doesn't tilton make clutches for most fast cars if you are willing to spend a few g's?

 

Everything I've read says 1500 total, but the rumor mill says it may be less.

The "buyers" are going to get screwed. What happens if the last few cars have a bump in power ?



I never understood "buyers" that would force and scratch, their way to the front of the line, for a production car with #'s of over 1,000 in a multi-year run ? Hurry up buy it. Don't wait. Be the first in town. Yeah right ? Like the Dupont Registry; in three years will not have any forsale with 900 miles and one owner ? What will the price be in three years ?

 

At that level, the only thing that holds its value is a Ferrari. I've heard that the McLarens are selling for 600k now. Tells the entire tale.
