I have noticed that my temperature needle sits past the 90 mark. Is that right or is my car getting too hot? Can anyone advise. Thanks in advance.

Mine seems to hover around the 90 mark, more so in traffic. Have you checked the fluid levels? Are the fans kicking in?

Where's the 90 mark? Is it over half way? Mine gets just above and then comes back on the move. Check that side fan/rads are working properly, common 355 fault and expensive to replace.

Mine sits past the 90 mark in traffic by about another quarter and then come down a little bit when driving. I just bought the car and it had £3,500 spent recently on cambelts and a service so I don't think the fluid levels will be low. Yes I checked the fans are kicking in.

Suggest you have a word with the dealer you bought it from, see what goes.

Thanks. Will do just that as it has a few niggly bits that need to be sorted anyway. Just going to hope it is nothing major.

In traffic mine goes past 90, fans kick in and bring it down to 90 again, so on, so forth.

Re Sunday I may be going from Mortlake if I get over this cold I have, can meet you somewhere nr Upper Richmond Rd if you want and head from there, would be meeting up with Tony and a few others on route.

The 355 has two separate temperature sensors for the radiators. The left radiator is set to come on at 88 degrees and switch off again at 82 degrees. The right radiator is (not sure how) connected with an oil radiator and its sensor is set to bring the fan on at 95 degrees.

If one or the other of the two sensors is broken, the coolant temperature will show higher than normal because the cooling is only going to be half of what it should be. Since there are two fans it can appear as though they are working when in fact only one of the two is working.

If your oil temperature is showing normal, I'd suggest the left hand (lower level) temp sensor could be gone?

    Ric.

Peter I am not sure if this is correct info but I once heard that initially the driver side fan goes on to cool the engine. You can hear this click on and off as it is quite loud, If the car needs additional cooling the passenger fan then turns on. This is a little harder to hear as it is on the other side of the car and there is already the noise of the other fan. Try and see if they both work. If they don't, it may be that the second fan is not turning on. It would be worth looking at your fuses (there are 2 fuse boxes, I don't know where the fan fuses are - 0ne box is under the passenger foot rest and the other in the engine cmpartment).

    Good luck
    Philip

BTW saw you again on Kings Rd last weekend

You can tell the difference distinctly between left and right fans going on / off - one really obviously sounds like it is right behind you (in a RHD car) and the other sounds like it is far away.... errrrr like on the other side of the car...
