We would have the most fun at:

  1. Silverado Country Club

  2. Monterey Plaza Hotel

  3. Fairmont Santa Monica

  4. Fairmont SF

  5. Fairmont Mission Inn

Well, Melodie won the trip through her food vendor at her restaurant. We have a choice of the following for a weekend of our choice with spending money and all food is provided by Sysco chef's:

    1) Silerado Country Club

I have been there once for a weekend and had a great time. The restaurant was very nice and the golf was great. Melodie can do the pool thing and I could invite Vince up for a round on Saturday.

    2) Monterey Plaza Hotel

I have never been to this property. The stay includes aquarium tickets. I'm ho-hum on aquariums because I spent ten years diving. My thinking is to possibly get a room during the Concourse (Fat chance?).

    3) Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica

This would be a good drive down the coast in the 308. The pictures look pretty sweet!

    4) Fairmont SF

I would take this to catch Beach Blanket Babaylon (SP?). It's the closest.

    5) Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn

Being so close to Siverado, I would probably pass on this location. I stayed at this property many times when I was a kid. At that time, 50% of the property was a rest home and the other 50% occupancy was for tourist at $12 per night!

Always had a soft spot for Monterey. Seventeen Mile Drive is one of my favorite places in California.

Why don't we turn this into a drive in Monterey. They're going to release the great white, so we need to do it soon before she's gone. Suggestions?

I know, but I could not resist that post! A Monterey run sounds good to me.

If you are an avid golfer, Silverado is the choice. Rooms are spartan, though.

If you can get Monterey during an event like Concours or Jazz Festival, that's the ticket.

Santa Monica would be great in mid-summer. I would fly down and just hang at the beach. No need for a car.

It's fun to play tourist in SF. We've done it a couple of times in the past few years. Great food, entertainment, etc.

Sonoma Mission Inn has been upgraded substantially from what you remember. Rooms rent for over $500 per night. It's still really a spa, but it has great food and beautiful rooms. Lots of wineries to tour nearby.
