Yesterday, I drove with my testa and my wife (ääääh wife & my testa;)) for a short spinn around the blocks. Late afternoon, we decided to take a break for a coffee in a street restaurant. We saw the car from our table. Almost 5, 6 peoples surrounded the testa.
After a while we payed and WANTED to drive back home.
Arriving at our car, a gent (30-35 years old) dressed with a Scuderia F1 shirt, MS cap and
weapond with a digi-cam, was spinning around the testa like crazy;)
Well, we were waiting till he got all his shots……
Mhmmmm….after another 3 minutes – no he wasn`t finished to take all the pics – I went straight to my door to open it.
    Here is our short conversation:

(The Dude) “H E Y go away!!!!! Don`t disturb me! Its my turn now, wait till I`m finished and you can look at the car and make your pics!”

(W.) “Äääääh sorry buddy, my appologize, please stay coooool, I`ll wait”

    ……another 5 minutes and 1 cigarette later.

(The Dude) “ Finished! Its your turn now”

(W.) “Thank you my pleasure”……..went to the car, took the key opened the doors for Anja & me, started the engine…….

Gents, it realy worth it to wait!!!!
PRICELESS! Totally priceless, his countenance / facil expression………I believe he is still standing there and wondering whatsgoing on:D

-----Next one please! I`m sure everbody has his own funny story and experience while on the road with a Ferrari----

2 years ago I asked my brother if he wanted to join me on a trip to Spa-Italia in the 208gt4. Mwaaahhh...he said. "I am not really into those italian cars but ok I will go with you".
You have to know he is a real Ford man. He has a 1998 Ford Escort RS2000 and a 1966 Ford Mustang. He was talking about all those Ford events and how much he liked it.

On our way to Spa on the highway beween Verviers and Spa it happened.
We were driving on the left lane and in the far I saw 3 Alfa's 164 driving in a row.
I allready could see 12 rounded heads and looking in the mirrors watching us comming towards. Ofcourse I gave full throttle and passed them.
They had opened their windows and gave us thumbs up!!.

A few km later we slowed down a little because we were talking how funny it is when driving in a car and everybody is looking at you.
In the meanwhile those Alfa's, and I think the guys were all italian/belgiums, came closer again on the left lane. I saw them comming near and said to my brother to watch. When the Alfa's drove against me 3 guys were hanging out of the cars (really dangerous) filming with videocamara's and Cellphone's to tape the sound. My brother was laughing and he was totally surprised and blushing with all this attention.

When we came at Spa later, the Alfa guys came to thank us that we slowed down so they could make some nice pictures and video's.

Quote of the day from my brother: "When I drive my Mustang or RS I never see people hanging out of their windows to get a better look. This is crazy.........but really fun!!" :D:D:D:D

Every year my brother asks: " when is the Spa event? I will go with you :) "

I was driving towards Le Mas du Clos, in France, with my little one (less than 2 years old at that time) besides me. We were enjoying the trip, so was the F-car as the tachometer showed. Was also fun to see the reaction of people when I overtook. Worst was a guy in Golf : as I took a glance in my rear view mirror I discovered he was filming the car... problem is, he was driving at the same time !
That's the downside here, as you can be chased by enthusiastic drivers in less agile cars, and they sometimes take risks.

Anyway, I pulled along a rest area in the French motorway, as my son needed to change diapers and get his bottle. Got out of the car, took the necessary material... and as we walked away a car de La Gendarmerie appeared and parked just near the black f-car.
Immediately I recalled having kind of exceeded "a bit" the speed limit 10 minutes ago. Horror stories came to my mind, people that had to leave their cars and walk back home litteraly... I was feeling slightly ill-at-ease, especially as one Gendarme stepped out , walked straight to the ferrari and around it. I was already calculating "well, that must have been an indicated 210, maybe 200, that can't be more than 180 km/h real, can it?". I was just pretending I had nothing to do with the car, playing with my little one in the sun. Trouble is, I was the only young father alone with his son, and the kid's seat on the passenger side was quite revealing.
After ages, the gendarme finally looked at me, smiled and... returned to his car. He just wanted to SEE it apparently.

    Tensed minutes anyway !

Always good to meet some EXPERTS:D;)

Back in 2001 we drove with our 308 GTSi QV down to Bavaria to visit some friends.
It was a wonderful & sunny day, open roof and we enjoyed our drive very much.
We stopped at a fuel station in Oberammergau (deep, deep bavarian jungle;)).
When we came back from the cashier a young (20-25 years old) guy walked around our 308. Looking inside our 308 with a boring facial expression………
Suddelnly he turned around to me and Anja and the conversation started:

    The Expert: “ Not bad!”
    W: “Thank You”
    The Expert: “Well Done!”
W: “Häää, please?! What do you want to say with –well done-?”
The Expert: “Your car is based on a Pontiac Fiero, nice replica and the job is realy well done. But I`M AN EXPERT and nobody can fool me.”
W: “Wow, I`m deep impressed. How can you see it so quick?”
The Expert: “The speedometer!!!! Goes only up to 160 and a real Ferrari goes to 280!
(my 308 was a US version and the speedometer was in miles!)
W: “Pfffffffffff…….Anja, please give me my handy a.s.a.p.!”
The Expert: very amazed “What do you want to do / call now???”
W: “My attorney!!!!!! I will sue this damn Ferrari-Bandito-Dealer who sold me this poor
Fiero fake for the price of a real one!”
The Expert: ……turned pale and walked away back in his jungel.

I couldn`t drive for the next 30 minutes laughing my *** off – he made our laughing day.

    Good thread guys!

Something I want forget is the day I drove to the Spa Ferrari Days last year.
Imagine, sunday morning 07.00am..., rising sun..., uncover the Ferrari..., let it iddle for some minutes..., putting your stuff in.... That alone is already something of great satisfaction. BUT, there you drive off.... I picked up Fchatter Bertus, who lives in the neighbourhood, and slowly we drove away.... Almost no traffic, great weather woow.... One hour later cruising on the highway in the Ardennes, another environment, some hills, trees and nice overviews on the landscapes. While enjoying all this I decided to put on the radio and guess what song just began, Dolly Parton with the song 9 to 5. Not that I am really into this kind of music but it was just a perfect song for the moment. I think I also opened my window, lighted up a Marlboro, put one arm on the door and really got the cruising attitude (and face), and all this while overthinking how great it would be if you could work just from 9 to 5......

Some weeks later, kind of the same situation, also heading to a club tour, I got the Pointer Sisters with their number 1 hit Fire screaming out of my 21 year old speakers.....

    Cordiali saluti,
    Joren REMANS

I was once driving in England, late at night, on the Brighton Kings' road after an evening out with friends. The Kings' road is a wide, 2-lane straight road along the coast, that goes from Brighton towards the smaller town of Portslade where it becomes a one-lane road. Unfortunately, the 2-lane part of the road is limited to 30mph (50 Km/h) being in town; the one-lane part out of town is slightly better at 40mph (65Km/h).

I was on my own, the road was completely empty, I was getting bored and I had a funny thought: "I wonder how quickly it picks up speed if I floor it in 5th gear?". So I did, from about 50 Km/h. Within a few hundred metres I was doing about 120Km/h, at which point I saw a police car coming out of a junction on a side street. I didn't really care, they couldn't measure my speed and the engine was still really quiet at 120 in 5th...

A couple of Kms later I slow down to a relaxed 90 Km/h cruise. Suddenly I see the flashing lights - the cop car was desperately chasing me at high speed!!! I stop the car, and wait for the cops to approach.

Cop #1 checks my alcohol level - none (I never drink & drive). Cop #2 checks my car's ownership - proving it's mine. I was also quite well dressed, so I must have made a good impression. I was expecting a thorough bollocking (you know, young guy in a flash car...)

Instead cop #2 is extremely polite and says "well sir we noticed you drove past us in Brighton, but by the time we got on the road you had disappeared - how fast were you going?". I answer "well, ok I admit I wasn't doing 30, but I wasn't doing 60 either... you know, I must have been doing about 40-45, after all that's what I was doing when you approached me..." His reply: "oh no sir, of course I wouldn't suggest you were doing 60, but you know, even 45 would be illegal on this road... you have a beautiful car, very nice, please drive safely and enjoy your evening". We just chatted for a few minutes about the car's performance and engine, and I was off with a friendly wave!

I couldn't believe it - all the time both cops just kept staring at the car and smiling, they really couldn't care less if I'd been doing 200: as long as I wasn't drunk or I hadn't stolen the car, everything was ok... and they obviously loved an Italian exotic!!

    You gotta love British cops!

so do we only have f-car lovers amongst cops ?...
    Would be nice indeed.

Actually that reminds me of another one (there we go, I really sound like a veteran) :
I was returning from a trackday in Issoire (France) and was still in a bit of a mood, probably... although quite tired. Anyway, entering a 90 km/h zone I decided to ease off. Bad luck, maybe my senses were still calibrated to track driving, so that when I got this sudden flash from this anonymous white car I just overtook, the needle was still around 140 km/h. Damned.

A bit stunned, I looked into the white car - there was a bunch of cops in here, one young lady with an angry face driving it. They waved at me that I should follow them, so I did. As you can imagine, the atmosphere had gone down a few degrees.
And suddenly... the miracle happened. They waved again at me, my tired brain took some seconds to decode the message... Apparently they just wanted me to overtake, and disappear.
    Which I did :).

Either they had no film in their camera, or they thought end of businessday was too close... or I had a f-car supporter in the white car. I'll never know, pity.

Did anyone in this forum actually get really stopped by a policeman :) ?

On one of the first drives in my 328 GTS I was stopped by a policecar. Two officers stepped out of the car. They asked me for the usual papers and walked at least three times around the car. Then I asked them what this was all about. The oldest officer walked up to me and told me that they stopped me because he wanted to show his younger collegue a real Ferrari. He also told me that he knew a lot about Ferrari's. And when his younger collegue arrived at my window he said loudly. This is a Testarossa isn't it. I immediately told him that he was right. The older officer was very proud that he could show off his knowledge of Ferrari's. I just smiled and asked if I could leave. Of course sir, they replied. Have a great afternoon. I just smiled again and drove away.
