Cha, so from where do you claim is your home. And, being "American" is very broad as you can be from anywhere between Argentina and Canada and still be an "American" . If you mean "American" as being a citizen of the U.S.A., FYI we have been right more often than not over the last 250 years or so. Not perfect mind you, but right much more often than not. And "your" and "you're" do not mean the same thing in the U.K. either!

Didn't the English language come from England? Something about using "The King's English?" Strange that we "barbaric" Americans are correcting an Englishman on his use of the language... ;)

c'mon guys. We should debate the points, not pick on people because their spelling isn't great. OK, CHAA can't spell, but some of the people on here may be dyslexic or anything, we just don't know. For some of the guys on here English isn't even their first language -- and we wonder why there are so many 'lurkers'.

If you had a dyslexic kid, would you be happy for the other kids to tease & bully ?

I know this is all meant as a light-hearted banter, but not everybody is as robust as CHAA.

Dont know if its the same in the US, but in the UK the mobile phone "Texing"
craze is alot to do with the b*stardisation of the English language, abreviations of words are now common place even in the spoken word. Also alot of street slang is spoken across the UK (not just london lol!), and that i would say is now getting the majority of the spoken english. Even the english dictionarys are now recognising this factor and including slang words in new editions of the dictionarys.
Though i will say that IMO it does not matter how you spell or if you even speek with an acsent, as long as the point is put across.

Regardless of where he is from, he is wrong. "Your" and "You're" do not mean the same place anywhere!

Hi RF, i would say spelling does not matter, i mean its the same with punctuation, have you noticed in film credits words are spelt with small letters first in stead of capitals? This has spread across the board and is now deemed the norm. I mean every one does somthing in the way they write (ops apart from the americans lol), look how you started your responce "c'mon" in stead of "C'mon (Capital) or indeed "Come on".
Hey now this thread is getting stupid.

    Agreed.

    a lot, not "alot"
    dictionaries, not "dictionarys"
    speak, not "speek"
    accent, not "acsent"
    feel, not "feal"
    irritating, not "irritateing"

I won't even touch on the punctuation, or lack there of. ;)

After you wrote Agreed. Your next line should have started with, A (capital letter) lot, not "alot". (Fullstop or a commer). Then the next line should start with a capital.
In fact.Ok lets miss the punctuation ey,smart arse.
