Cheers, My 89 Testarossa (England Delivery) has a speedometer which I believe says I am going 15-20% faster than I really am. I seem to reach "100 MPH quite often". I have read the old threads, and they concentrate on intermittent readings. This works fine but reads speed faster than it should. The odometer also clocks up a mile before I have actually done a mile. Around 1350 yards. Has anyone advice. My mechanic wants to pull the speedo out of the dashboard. PV
You say that your TR was "delivered in England." Euro Ferraris have odometers that record Kilometers driven, not miles.
Gary, England uses miles not kilometres. I brought the car to Australia and we use kilometres here. Trust me, I know the difference. Paul V
Thanks, These facts are great, but does anyone understand the technical issue I am facing or know how it can be rectified. We have lots of speed cameras over here and I just want to get the thing reading properly. regards PV
Pv908, sounds like your speedometer head needs to be serviced. I am not sure if the gauge can be calibrated. My current Ferrari, 348 spider, former 308 and TR all had optimistic speedometers. Generally around +5~10% max. Your unit is reading in excess of 20% error! As an interesting side note, when I had my former Ferrari speedometer serviced I purchased a Euro speedometer cheap for the 6 weeks it took to get the original back. The Euro unit was far more accurate! Well within 5%. Good luck! John.
well i thought they only fitted the fast reading speedos in 8 cylinder ferrari's as they was not needed in the 12 cylinder rear engined car as they are very fast cars
