I think it's the "ricers" who always figure their over-sized exhaust pipes will somehow give them that competitive edge to blow us away. When I get on the gas and blast past 'em, it never ceases to amuse me when I always utter to myself..."perhaps if their exhaust pipe were a bit bigger...or maybe some more graphics, ground-effects plastic or a huge rear-spoiler???" ;)

Word to the wise: do NOT attempt to race a ricer which has an eminating neon glow coming from under or inside the vehicle....THAT would be their wicked warp-drive core, capable of propelling them at light-speed in an instant: the light-wave emitted from their vehicle will toast your paint job! ;)

My common thing is to let them pull up and then give them that respective nod that links us as common brothers and conveys a mutual respect for one another, because...after all...we are all of us equals on the road of life. All of us except the evil anti-sports-car-enthusiast. HE is amoungst us. The anti-sports-car-enthusiast has no soul. Jimmy540i has no soul. Do the math people: it's in the bible!!!!

Darn, don't ya hate when your meds run out and you have to improvise with Jolt Cola and peanut M&M's and then watch Oprah to bring yourself down?

Okay, let me bring it back. The Ricers are by far the hardcore enthusiast who seem to wanna check it out, admire it and just cruise next to you. I won't race them...just nod at 'em and cruise. They honestly rank as the most appreciative when you talk with them and let them check it out. One guy followed me to a gas station, I let him sit in the car, etc: made his year!

Wow..I didn't think with all the hoopla and ads, all the promotion, anybody actually bought the apts/condos they were building down there.

Thats very cool. :) I live in the city as well, (SF), and like the urban life. But when I am in LA (this weekend), I much prefer my suburban life.

How do you like it Kevin? Would like to get a glimpse (figuratively) how urban life is in downtown LA. :)

Well it was news to me, as LA is not an urban town. I personally don't know of anyone living in downtown la. Closest is the high rises in westwood area.

Thus it was cool to see a F chatter in that neck of the woods. :)

I always wanted to learn more about the downtown part of LA, and now I know I can ask Kevin about the living aspect of it.

I have a six-block commute. In LA. No freeways. It rocks.

When I get a bit ambitious I'll do a photo tour for you.

    Cheers

Yeah I always liked the idea of living in downtown and working there. Since I don't have any work purpose to go there, it probably won't ever happen.

The SF and NYC/Seattle urban life are fantastic. Totally different communities on to themselves.

I knew for a while LA has been wanting to do it. I never knew how successful, the upsides/downsides of it were. I mean in SF/NYC you don't have to have a car living downtown. Though I would think in LA you do, since public transit is basically non existent.

However, do you feel trapped there after hours, or is there now things to do after 5pm?

    Appreciate the photo tour. :)

Even in red, the 365 is practically invisible (which I like).

The Mondial is a little more visible and always seems to get Boxster driver's attention.

I don't currently have a Ferrari but my brother does. On occasion he will throw me the keys so I can drive it. It is a 1997 355 Spider. The only people that look at the car are Asians or people from the middle east. White people don't give the car the time of day. Even ugly chicks don't look at it. I get more attention driving my rice rocket. If a guy just wants attention a Ferrari is a waste of money.

BTW- I love to drive it!

Sorry - no joy here. Just answered a quick question is all. Cannot speak for the joy of others but my sincere apologies for contributing to the detour above.

Definitely the 10 to 15 year old boys and the Magnum era older guys, but I agree with the early post that it is model specific. My Dinan 3 gets much more attention from twenty-somethings of either sex.

In that other thread...the vanity was bordering on insanity.

Are we to be homoginized to the point of being a Lambo site!

With all due respect, I am not buying this statement. I think I understand the sentiment, but if you are paying attention to other cars and pedestrians, you have to notice that Ferrari's affect people, good of bad, they move people emotionally. Someone described driving exotics as a "guilty pleasure", which I have always found to be an apt description. Sometimes its a nuisance, sometimes flattering, but I have never found a drive amongst people to be invisible.
Up here, the trees don't give a sh@t and I can go unnoticed, but not in town.

Being a female 30-something people sometimes seem a little caught off guard when I notice their cars. Especially younger guys in the newer (expensive show-off) cars --either look back at me with suspicion or snub me all together.

I make it a point to give a thumbs up or a flattering compliment to any interesting car I see.

Usually it's the middle aged guys in classic BMWs and Ferraris that are most appreciative -I love it when they drop a gear and show off the exhaust note :)

John would love to. However, it seems to be upsetting some members, so I won't further contribute:
