    I'm having a difficult time finding a somewhat-close-to-fitting indoor car cover for a 250 gte...any suggestions? Thanks.

I ordered a very nice one from Griots Garage for my 330-fits like a glove.

I bought a California Car Cover for my 330, but I still haven't fit it yet.

Last summer my Ferrari had a scattering of sfrido covering its surface. (I was machining bits for it on my lathe and mill.)

I can't remember if I took a picture or not. It would have horrified most people!

Tony, was the Griots based on a 330 template, or just generic dimensions? I'd like to get a cover too, but would prefer something which shows off the sexy lines...

I don't have a picture of the cover on, but it does fit exactly-comes down to the jack holes and covers the bumper and exhaust pipes....it's cut to fit the car exactly (including the rear view mirror). I did email a picture of the car to the ordering guy at their request-maybe that helps match it to the templates they have.

Thanks Tony, I appreciate the reply. Do you have a recommendation for the best THICK & padded cover? Home use only, to stop the cats from scratching the paint (once its painted!), and protect from hanger rash to the extent possible. Nice to know there is a template for 4 headlight 2+2s, who would have thought?

    Thanks again,
    Jon

Can't help with a thick indoor cover rec. I got a indoor/outdoor cover that is washable in a home-size washing machine as I get mental if the cover is dirty and the car is clean (and it fits easily in the trunk so I can use it to cover the car if it should start to sprinkle when I can't run back to the garage)

I'm using a cover I bought for my old 635CSi from one of the big BMW specialty places. It's still in very nice shape and fits my 4HL 330 perfectly, except for the mirror pockets. Glad I didn't leave in the trunk when the 635 and I parted ways -- there's $200 saved, every little bit helps keep the 330 going.

Well, I called California Car Cover yesterday and ordered an indoor cover.

Called the number listed above, and after checking my car wasn't a GTC or GTS, we talked about the best materials to protect new paint against cats and kids. Turns out, they have Covercraft actually make them, so I asked which template he chose, and it was number 37 (which is correct per the covercraft selection PDF for both the 2 and 4 headlight 330GT 2+2s). Great.

I ended up getting the 'customweave' cover (which is the covercraft 'form fit' cover), which is lycra/spandex on the outside with sheared 100% cotton on the inside. As its made to order, he offered to send me a mirror pocket template if I wanted, although he said one could be added later if needed. 3 week delivery, not cheap. I hope it's nice!

I've got a Covercraft 'form fit' cover for my E-type. Really well made and truely does fit like a glove.
The fabric is lovely and soft on the inside an will really protect the paint. Not sure how 'cat proof' it would be to be honest - the fabric is not that tough and if your cat jumps on with claws out I feel it may 'ladder' the fabric. No cats get near my garage so not an issue for me and I'm really pleased with mine.

NB - no link to company, just a happy customer.

Subtitle: Fear and Loathing in the Garage, Part II

I have one of the bright yellow bling dust covers bought from the Ferrari Owners' Site, and it definitely is not cat proof. Livia (the cat) got accidently locked in the garage night before last. Yesterday morning I heard her meowing to be let out, and I did so. Glanced at my covered 328 GTS and noticed "pulls" in the cloth on the roof.

It gets worse. As I approached the car I noticed a more or less circular stain about four inches in diameter. Puzzling. The stain was on the cloth were it should have covered the roof panel, which was not on the car. The full horror of the situation became evident when I opened the door and found droplets of cat urine all over the passenger seat. Livia had decided that, lacking a litter box, the top of the Ferrari would do just fine, and she chose the softest part of the cover where it was unsupported. Then she scratched pulls in the cloth trying to cover up the evidence.

Well, the car cover washed out OK and the seat cleaned up all right, with no permanent harm done. It could have been much worse. She could have hit the console and switch gear. . . .

If you continue to suffer any frustration from this incident I suggest you take it out by the methods suggested in the following thread:

Alright alright, no more cat bashing! Actually, to be fair, the Calcarcover guy suggested a couple of other covers first, to deal with the cat issue, so the final choice was mine. He was suggesting either the Superweave or Supremeweave, I don't remember.

I suggested throwing a elcheapo cover over it, but he wasn't too keen on that due to possible condensation issues. Given living in CA (slim chance of condensation) verses cat damage, I'll take the risk short term. I've had two cat pee incidents (just on interior metal), and the windows are out so their access to the interior must be blocked.

Long term, I'm building a cat proof garage, and I guess I should add an emergency litterbox and a one way cat door to the plans! I say cat proof only in the sense that the currrent garage is their way in/out with cat doors today. Good thing they don't have thumbs.

    Thanks for the input guys.

Just a thought, if it is garage rash you fear a tight fitting cover may not be a best solution, you might get better protection with the padding achieved by several loose fitting covers one atop the other. In my old garage this strategy saved my Ferrari from my rambunctious young boys. Michael Bayer #9727 & #14947

Does anybody remember the tan colored car covers we used to buy from FAF back in the 1980s? What would the modern equivalent of those be? I can't tell if the Dustop is the correct one or not.

Yes, that is what I have on our PF coupe, a light cotton FAF cover. It still fits fine after about 30 years of constant use. But, we have a feline friend by the name of Blue who is an 18 pounder and fully equipped with four paw drive. So, the hood, top and trunk are covered with padded quilts courtesy of Atlas Van Lines who left them behind. I just spread them out on top of the FAF cover. Blue, therefore, has not scratched the paint. And he has a full and constantly cleaned litter pan, actually two, nearby that he faithfully uses.

Ferrari's and cats, seems like an inevitable symbiosis.
