Thanks to all for your input. This thread proved surprisingly popular. The whloe fuel mileage thing has me torn.. I'm economically-minded, but I also love my Ferrari. Is this even possible?!

It's very possible, I'm ONE CHEAP BASTARD, so I look for a better/cheaper way to do things, but worrying about a few pennies a mile ain't it! It's things like using the great parts cross referencing made possible by the community that allows me to be cheap and still maintain a Ferrari (properly). Things like going to the numerous vendors discussed here for those Ferrari-specific parts rather than the dealer. If it weren't for them, I would have already sold my 308 due to the maintenance parts costs because I've been SHOCKED at the prices at the dealer! But for me driving the Ferrari is already an indulgence so I don't worry about how much it's costing in gas (although I probably WILL when I (hopefully) take it to the F1 race all the way down in Indy this year!)

    Don XVI,
Yes, the parts source alternatives we find on this board are GREAT! Also Ebay sometimes can be a great source.
I would hope anybody w/ any sense would at least give a passing thought to the ever-increasing cost of fuel, and the impact it is having on our hobby. I should start a new thread about the oil industry, and how that monopoly has got us by the balls! I don't think we'll ever see fuel below $2/gallon again...

I know, all you Europeans wish you had our prices, but still, the creep has begun. We may be at your price levels before long, and there seems to be little or no support for the consumer in Washington. Big oil companies put too much money in the pockets of the decision-makers...

12mpg in slow city driving, 18 on the open road (3.2 Mondial).

Owner's Handbook quotes up to 31 mpg on open road (@ 56mph) - not much chance of that I reckon unless coasting downhill with a tailwind!

I never thought you bought a ferrari because it gets good gas mileage... If you want gas mileage buy a honda Prius. Just don't calculate it - it will only depress you!

I found that gas mileage does decrease when your right foot is on the floor most of the time!

My 1988 -328 does 15city/18hwy. I thought that was pretty good -but then I do drive like a wooosie!

after 20 years of driving and being around these cars, my favorite response to the "so what kinda mileage you get with something like that?" question is
"I don't know, but it burns every drop I put into it!"

Always leaves them with a envious smile!

Last time I filled up, 80 Euro for 240 Km :(
(is about $100 for 150 miles)
Restoring the car past 3 years was cheaper than driving it!
