I am pleased that my latest will be in transport tomorrow and at our shop in about 10 days. In the mean time lets see who knows their stuff. This is her original tail that's traveling with her. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A far as I know this one is fine mechanically. I will mount the original coupe body and probably convert 0846 into the Spyder she want's to be. Best to You and Spice and THANKS to ALL!!!
That will make a certain poster very happy ... Not sure myself why you'd want 2 of the same/similar models in a collection, but I guess with these sorts of cars each one is uniquely special Concrats. Pete
i am in awe................ clapping for ya Mr. G !!! not to steal thunder from the new horse coming to the stable, but can you easily convert a coupe body ( 0846 ) to a spyder? or, is it necessary to have a whole spyder body already on hand ( spare?) to put on the chasis. i know rivets and aluminum, but i have never seen one of these cars up close to know how the roofline is formed and fastened relative to the chasis/body. viewing the booklet on 0846, it appears that there would be alot of trimming and fabrication work to fit a particular body to a particular chasis. this would, in effect make them difficult to swap unless they were pre fitted as designated race spares. (?) i hope you can allow for my ignorance on this ! Michael
Okay, being a member of the terminal clueless, I'm guessing that this is a Ferrari! Do I win a prize? Dr "Well, it's red and goes brapppp" Who
The coupe tail in the first photo is 0854's original coupe tail. The original doors and other bits are included so she should go back to a coupe fairly easily. The details will take a bit of work but it should go smoothly. Now the tail that's on her is an interesting one. There were only 2 P3 Spyders 0848 and 0846. I won't know until 0854 arrives but it's likely that the spyder tail now fitted to her is from 0846. 0848's spyder tail has a bisected tail opening unlike the one now on 0854. 0846's P3/4 tail was a non bisected opening. (This will become clear with more photo's as I move along) Now the previous owner thinks the tail now on 0854 is stamped 0858 but 0858 wasn't a P3 so until I investigate futher it's a bit of a mystery. That said the tail now on 0854 will make a perfect Spyder tail for 0846. The door shunt line and other details will have to be put right but I'm thinking 0846 would look good as raced at Daytona and 0854 as raced at SPA,especially as I also have her original tail with original paint! Remember 0846 was always a spyder and 0854 was a coupe pre 68/69. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is just so damn cool. I can't express how much I enjoy watching this car come to life, detail by detail. Great work by you and your entire team!
Well Done Jim. Molto Bene. Provenance whiners be damned, just buy a better one. Living well.... Enjoy the J over there; it's her real home, one of the few items that put that end of the pond to shame. Image Unavailable, Please Login
