Part of this is getting back to the basics of love. My son is a big fan of Hunter S. Thompson, but he doesn't realize that Hunter paid dues for many years before he got to sing the blues.

He knows that I have some history. You've heard of a lost weekend? I had some lost years. Like the song sez, "There's a whole lotta things that I ain't never done. But I ain't never had too much fun."

Don't misunderstand. I don't want to go back to those days. They're in the rear view mirror. I just want to show him that there are a lot of life experiences out there for him, and there's no need to hurry.

Funny, back in the day, there used to be the Rainbow People. Haven't thought about them for years. Wonder if they're still doing their summer get togethers.

Ohhhh, well that makes it easy the only car to take is a LM002. Not sure
if u'd drive a lambo doc, but it was Hunters favorite and he wote about
    driving his many times.

    its a V12 btw... :D

U should bring some 12 gages on ur trip too and play a few rounds of shotgun golf in honor of the old son of a *****.

Just take the Maser Spyder. Once you get going ,the car will become a peripheral focal point; not really important because the drive is of essence.
IMO, the spyder is cool, chic and best of all a drop top; there's a lot to behold coming down the 1 here in CA from carmel to big sur and beyond.
If you make it down to San Diego, drop me a PM; would be a please to met the illustrious Dr Who.
    Regards.

I'm trippin' on Dave's choice of early Vette. Spectacular. And, just remember what happened to Dr. Thompson...not the role model i would choose given the ending...

    Why VW?

Well...when you get right down to it...98% of all mechanical breakdowns can pretty much be fixed with duct-tape!!! (this includes spark plugs that don't want to stay threaded into the heads). The VW is hands-down the most mickey-mouse-able fix-on-the-spot limp-it-along car ever made.

You can NOT blow a water pump, radiator hose, have a stuck thermostat or loose coolant.

There's something about these cars that love to just run and roll down the street endlessly: like a vampire or my sister-in-law...they're hard to kill.

If you buy it right, you can likely sell it for more.

And best of all...the 30k engine-out service is not only free....it's automatic!

Dale: When you find one move quickly, there is no time to have the hinge pin run-out report verified by two mechanics. I found it, put a deposit, had a leakdown done, had a trusted friend drive it, wired the money-all in about four days. While it was a Dave Helm's waiting to be collected he had 4 calls from people who wanted to arrange a PPI if they bought it. All before it appeared in the FML. There are more buyers than cars right now.
    See you in Monterrey.

Or, just buy Rodneys car. It's close, and it's well known.
