I think any sport/activity that gets kids/people moving is good. When i was a kid like most people every day rain, hail or shine i would be out the front on the road or grass playing some form of sport, football, soccer, cricket, forcee-backs whatever. The other day i was driving along the street to my parents house and it was the same as all the other times, empty. F@cks me where they are but i doubt they are doing anything physical :(

The game itself is longer. But I am talking about the pros/college, where they play 60 minute games, yet play usually 4 "lines" a game. On average, the lines play 15 minutes a game. Then you have all the stopages, and the long pair of intermissions.

The only three sports are auto racing, mountain climbing and bull fighting.

Everything else is just a game.

Thank you!! Finally someone else who believes it. Gymnastics is by far the hardest sport known to man. I took some classes (met a few girls) and seriously it is incredible what kind of shape these people are in. In hockey, football, baseball etc. You are pretty much using most/all of your muscles at once to accomplish a goal, be that running through someone else, hitting the ball etc. But in gymnastics you have to separate your muscles and perform only using certain ones at a time. Rings for example, do you realize how hard an iron cross is?

Noone seems to have mentioned it, but Taekwondo is another great sport. That's what i grew up doing and was pretty much the only thing I could say i was better at than other people.

I would agree that gymnasts are some of the world's most fit athletes. Followed close behind by boxers who would sometimes prepare for years in 8 hour long shifts for just one night of war. Since the thread has skewed off line I say place one sport's athlete with a variety of physical challenges: gymnastics, fighting, basketball, track, maybe even chess! Who would be the best overall, probably a Olympic Gymnast and Track star followed close behind by a boxer...

But back to the original question, I think "professional" soccer is a sissy sport. Granted the athletes most of the players are fit to precision in stamina, speed, and relating that to one on one ingenuity. Edgar Davids looks like he can run circles around Alex Rodriguez and is not like an oxygen deprived, slow moving, media whore Shaq. Im sure Roberto Carlos can run from Canada back to Brazil in traffic while pickpocketing people on the sidewalks. But their actions on diving, over reacting on simple calls and plays, the gutless move of lying on the field like they were shot and jumping back into the play is too much. No one can take away from the foot build and training these guys, but their class on the field is seriously weak. I personally like soccer/football, but the acting has got to go.

yes BUT.....Let's see one of them get into a full racing suit, pull 5-6 G's (on a track) for up to 2 1/2 hours...rapidly losing 8-10 pounds of water weight while squeezed into a 145 degree cockpit!

I'd like to see Schumacher attempt a full lay out or even an arabian. If he could, I will then agree he is the greatest man to ever live.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I have done lots of tournaments. I have even medal'd a few times. With my sport you win by MAKING the guy submit, or choking him out. Buy out, that means unconscious. So either he taps, something breaks, or he takes a nice little nap.

I enjoy soccer alot and honestly, its the only sport I've played that actually has me tired by the 10th minute; A whole lot running and strategy involved on one big ass field. Atleast in football, basketball and baseball you get little intermissions. Soccer, on the other hand, is a full 45 minute half of non-stop chasing a ball.

BTW, used to play defense when I was younger and by far the best position I like to play in soccer.

So the only sports you like are when some one is taking a beating? You don't need sports for that.

    No.

Beacuse of all the sissy melodrama acting that goes on, I don't consider soccer a man sport. The faking has no place in soccer, and continues because it is allowed. Play the game and leave the acting for the stage.

american football is not a toughie sport .... take away all that poncey armour, crash helmets etc. and they would look like a load of school girls running around, chasing a ball.
besides ... it's only the armour etc. that causes the damage to ones opposite number.
you should all take up good old english rugby league, or possibly rugby union .... no poncey crash helmets or armour etc. for our boys.

ps .... did you really re-elect that clown ?
