Now seriously, folks, I've been given the task of setting up a new web site for the FCA in Vic. Feel free to check it out. www.fcavic.com.au (nothing of note there yet) I'll be looking for ideas and content...so any help will be appreciated. (not just by me, but the whole committee) Peter
how about a list of the trackdays with pics from those days, lap times so the knuckledraggers can see how quick "road" cars go. -Cars for sale -Tech tips from "our" illustrious" chat group maybe not -Special features like 360C's car, Gils F40 and GTE and OHOS with special history -list of all the cafes in Melb (must be high on the agenda ) -a few videos from special cars like AHG's 430, F50 GT1, etc -mods done to cars like Stephens' 550 -a few interviews with Phil on how to repair leaks in 355CH j/k I luv you both man I'm full of them today..or do I mean full of IT ??? jeez, I normally charge $250/hr for this stuff
I was thinking that I've got a lot of tech tips from that REAL chat group Ferraritech which would make a nice section for being helpful on the website. And you could have people send tech tips to the webmaster and sort them with Carl as a proof reader saying whether that is useful or not. Vmax could send some of his "interesting" (not those ones!!) car videos
What stories has he been telling you?? Seriously though, I think he'll do a great job My suggestion, a new member profile area introducing new members to the club.
Speaking of that, I'll be doing a section on local Ferrari Mechanics, so prepare a blurb on yourself. There's a similar thing on the national site.
Thanks for the thought.... But three things... I like the rumours, why spoil them with facts!! I'm too busy to accept any more work that promotion may attract , unless of course another 3 or 4 of me could be produced in a cloning machine..... I've been on the staff at other shops, and know what a pr1ck I was, so why would I want to employ others!!??
Pictures of 360's, preferably red Who is the website aimed at? current members, potential members, dreamers etc. What is the point of the website, i.e what are you (the club) trying to achieve?
It's aimed at all of the above. We want to have somewhere for people to go to get info on events, news etc.
Carl Jones has far too much time on his hands too.... he'd be PERFECT for writing a log of the locations of all the chassis numbers in Australia.....
Ok just a few of the top of my head (moretti's) -Cars for sale -Tech tips from "our" illustrious" chat group maybe not -Special features like 360C's car, Gils F40 and GTE and OHOS with special history -list of all the cafes in Melb (must be high on the agenda ) -a few videos from special cars like AHG's 430, F50 GT1, etc -mods done to cars like Stephens' 550 obviously all of the above, including the cafes half for info half to show ferrari owners have a sense of humour also A member business directory so for example you wanted a lawer you looked and saw J.Bloggs JBLaw on 1800 800 800 www.jblaw 11 latte Rd..... Race instructor A. Senna 1900 900 900 etc etc Deals for members through both the members businesses and outside ones eg Hilton, restaurants, tyre places etc Obviously some form of Forum Track day/event write ups pref with pics and vids Ferrari buyers guide for australia Do it yourself service articles Track/driving articles Drive write ups i.e things like for eg the great ocean road etc, major hazzards know police spots, best time to go, lenght, places to stop for fuel etc etc If i think of any more i will post them
HAHHAAHAH most of these guys in VIC don't know which end of the spanner to hold !!! but most are pretty reasonable steering wheel input personna so some articles from some of the maestros would be a good idea (AHG, 360C, PP) and some articles from a mask daredevil (we'll call him LRAC) for us crazys who like to tempt fate on the open hwy Some of the mods done to Fcars and other interesting metal with a list of where and who to see would be nice - costs wouldn't hurt either (the wallet may see it differently)
they would be very interesting, though id give it a week before the tac or whatever its called has it replaced with speeding kills articles I think there should be one of those long term perfomance build up articles, im thinking TT 575 with nos, full cf body kit and a GT wing that doesnt work, hell ill even look after it for everyone
Why can't we look at enhancing the FCA Official site with all of the above suggestions. It doesn't appear to be updated very often.
Do you reckon any sort of member profile would be a bit dangerous given the history at the club... oh hang-on, they were all members involved, so the general public will be safer...
Even though I don't usually respond to people with blank profiles, it's because the Victorian Committee has decided that it would rather have its own web site which it controls and can update as and when required
I think it's a great idea and suggested something similar in NSW many years back... The national site can then feed from each state site so its info remains updated and relevant - and lessens the workload on the unfortunate few trying to maintain it (hey mikey
You responded to nwocorp and his profile isn't much different to mine! For what it's worth, I think the concept of a Vic website is a great idea.
it's just easier to see who we are talking to when the profile is filled out...unless you work for ASIO maybe A website for all the states is a good idea but they don't have lectricity in WA and Adelaide is full of crazies, just look at some of their posts and their goings on ...would YOU want to associate with them I think the national website should have a forum where we could all participate but some people may not be happy about that...err better leave that alone
