Went for a club driveday and Scud bought his new Stradale to the outing straight AFTER driving it from Sydney and already he reckons it needs more grunt.

He took my boy for a spin (thanks Scud, much appreciated, sorry he jumped out!!! bloody kids! ) He reckons it's superfast :)

Absolutely gorgeous car and sure you will enjoy it, those brakes are HUGE and looking forward to the QR day to see how it stacks up to your GT2/3

So Scud, what was the big secret surrounding the car? Was it the new Sydney CS that was on offer a couple of months ago or not?

nice pics john. where do I start . car feels very flat through corners , brakes are brilliant , anyone getting a 430 spend the cash on CCB's . they pull the car up and have a beautiful feel under foot, exhaust note is race car sound , very different to a normal 360 with a tubi exhaust , very quiet in the cab while driving at normal speed , car just feels a lot tighter/stronger through the steering wheel , you feel very confident taking on twisty roads at high speed as i did coming down mt glorious today. much easier to drive quick on the road compared to the GT2 / GT3 which dart all over the place and is easier to get yourself in trouble . i will reserve my judgement a little until i take her out to QR next month to see if I am quicker than the porsches . the photos don't do the car justice. when you get scuderia beside corsa you can see a huge difference in the colours. scuderia is really the only colour that fits the CS spot on. if i had to choose only 1 set of keys , i would take the CS . maybe a little biased as i have only had her for 36 hours. in all honesty it really needs more torque but i will work on that . i will add further comments once i have had more miles on the clock . I will endeavour to take some high res pics soon of all three cars together.
    see u all later.

you can get use to 1000hp in a go kart in a short time and wish for more so the "paltry" hp the Stradale makes :D would want someone wishing for "real" grunt in no time

I should have taken some better photos but the sun was playing havoc with the shots at that time of day. I have some other photos and also the ones above in hi res if anyone wants them.

The one thing I hear about the Stradale all the time is RAW and the sound is certainly that but the one thing I don't understand is why are there electric windows in a street racer ? They go to all the trouble of putting kevlar inserts in the door to replace the trim but leave the window electric motors in whereas the Enzo has manual winders ??!!

Lots of nice little touches on the car like the chrome horse on the fill cap, the grills for every opening that feed the car air, etc

Scud says he got to Ballina from Sydney on near 95 litres of fuel which ain't too bad for a car with these capabilities, I work it out to be about 25mpg in the old speak but suspect my calculations may be wrong and 22-23mpg would seem right but no reason the car couldn't get 25s, they are very efficient after all is said and done and they are only 3.6 litres.

I've done a serious number of laps instructing from the passenger seat in a stradale at Sandown. All I can say is that is one car that floats my boat. It is raw, uninhibited and pure. It is a drivers car and, although it's performance will be down on a 430, it will give a h-u-g-e-l-y greater thrill at a track day. The easiest analogy for anyone familiar with two wheels is to compare a GP 250 bike with a superbike - sure the superbike's got more grunt and is quicker in a straight line but watch out when that 250's on the boil fatso!

Yes, but a Superbike still laps a couple of seconds faster at the National level. You also ride the 250 from the front wheel and the Superbike from the rear. Neither is better/worse, just different.

So Mark, have you driven a 360 on track??

Driving is driving I know, but I know enough about 360's to know they have lots of "nuances" that the passenger seat won't communicate to you very well...

And to instruct in a car you haven't driven (much or at all) must be VERY difficult.

And you should NEVER compare 2 wheels to 4...

Anything that falls over if you walk away from it, is by definition, trying to kill you.

Keh??? there is no national level 250 GP class in Oz anymore so naturally stuperbikes with factory backing will lap faster at a national level. Sheez.

All I was saying was that I like the focus of the 360CS in comparison to the 'normal' road cars. It's a great driver's car and one that you must really be able to drive to get the most out of. It is not like a 550/575 where blind freddie can make it go fast because it's so forgiving- you have to drive a CS to really cut the mustard.

Don't get your knickers in a bunch, I have a TZ250GP bike and a Ducati 999 race bike that was run in the Aussie superbike and Pro Twins championships. Superbikes have alwayd been faster than GP's in Oz. A properly setup Superbike is no less challenging to ride than a 250, infact the reverse is actually true from my experience.

No knickers in bunches here :) (also a damn good thing I didn't make some rash statement about 'have you ever ridden a real 250 bucko??' hehe)

Anyway, I'll always take a more focussed car/bike over a compromised one any day - even if it is slower. Same deal why I bought the 348CH over a 355 - the 348 was harder to drive but way more rewarding IMHO.

since when have you been humble :D

the only thing that makes a 348 harder to drive over a 355 is the power steering belt is broken in the 348 :D

you can always fix that though by using slicks..OOPS! I didn't say that it was PP who told me :D

Seriously Mark, I would be glad to take some tuition from any of the hotshots here like 360C, PP, AHG, yourself when I FINALLY make my bloody mind up about the next Fcar....:(

Come on down to an Events O'Neill day at Sandown. You'll not only get me but Matt Coleman and Allan Simonsen thrown in as well :) (and if you ever want a fast lap in an F car ask Scotty what Allan's like as a driver !

When's the next O'Neill day? Well organised, as much track time as you can poke a stick at. I love the open pit format.
For an even greater thrill, try Allan at the Island!

well i guess seeing as you're busy with your CS i could be persuaded to look after your GT2 for a while. for a modest fee i'll drive it round the block on weekends and give it a spit-shine.

    rock on
