Yeah okay, take your toughest rugby player and anybody else over there for that matter sipping their cup of tea and put them on any field with somebody like Bill Romanowski, Brian Urlacher, Jerome Bettis, Ronnie Lott or any other past/present pro NFL player and see who walks off the field and who is carried off on a stretcher. Your "boys" would get demolished & stepped on within seconds.

Re-elect that clown? What does that have anything to do with this thread? Typical of a Brit to just criticize anything American, regardless of what it is. All that insecurity & jealousy is gonna shave time off your life due to the stress it must be causing you. Learn to lighten up a bit. And remember, 2nd place isn't that bad.

Come on. Ernie is a known baiter, he started an obviously inflammatory thread to start arguments, don't take his bait fellas. Don't let the master baiter win.

Well in the old days of American Football they didn't use hemets. But since guys were cracking their heads wide open they though it was a good idea to protect the head with a helemt. But it wasn't because someone was faking his knee was broken because he got touched. American Football fixxed the problem of heads getting split open with a helmet. How is Football Soccer going to fix the problem of faking?

Ah, this is great the fight goes on.

Dave. Gotta beg to differ. Played both games. Scrum half, all along the line and even filled in in the scrum at number 8, I even got stuck at hooker once. Football (US version) has collisions on every play that are fiercer than anything I ever saw or felt on a pitch.

Not to denegrate Rugby at all, it is a violent sport, and I'd still rather play that than football, I'm just a bit long in the tooth now, but, when you play rugby you have to admit there is a certain amount of restraint because of the lack of pads, helmets etc. American football doesn't have that limtitation.

More busted noses in Rugby and torn ears, ribs take a beating, but I don't remember seeing more than one or two really serious injuries in 8 or 9 years playing the game. Football you often see one or two a game.

Oh, and there is quite a bit of stuff available as padding for ruggers, none of which I ever wore ;).

yes, all well and good but look at things from another perspective ..... american football - i don't know the rules, but as i see it a chap has the ball and gives it to one of say ten men ... the opposition meanwhile, pick a chap they think is gonna receive the ball, and just knock ten bells out of him ... hoping that he is by chance, the one given the ball.

then the guy with the ball throws it and another one catches it.

i don't want to offend anyone, but it's one of the biggest wastes of valuable time i have ever come across.
(apart from baseball, basketball and that silly car racing where they go relentlessly, round and round an oval track)

thank the lord for soccer and rugby league (and proper car racing)

Dave , you have a little twist of logic here.

Wouldn't you say if it is a waste of time, the morons that watch it are only wasting basically NON-valuable time, by virtue of them being morons in the first place and their time therefore being non-valuable?? :)

I tell you what, since you are in the bay area why don't you stop into one of Ralph Gracies Acadmies and tell them what you think. Then when you are crying because you got your elbow broken we'll seen how gay you think Jiu Jitsu is.
