Hey Plas - did you drive your GT4 up at Blackhawk with the Continental crowd last year?

Actually it was a Milano. Black with the big "bling bling" wheels :)

The back of my head was on the grid. Good thing too. I didn't want to scare anyone looking at the nice Ferrari pictures.

The Ferraris were well behaved in touring. In fact, all of Touring group 1 was. It was touring group 2 that got rowdy. I was driving a VW Golf TDI (diesel). I had cars hounding me like it was lapping.

We got a comment from the MERV driver on Sunday morning about touring. They were going to head out in the truck and slow everyone down if it got like that again. Hence the reason for the warning in the drivers meeting.

Thanks to everyone that came. I apologize if I didn't get to meet all of you in person. It kept me plenty busy trying to keep everything working.

Plas I remember watching you drive (I was doing some corner work). You were everyone's favorite - watching you make that GT4 scream around the track while all the large $$$ cars were taking it a little easy (not that I blame them). :)

The second touring session on Saturday was hectic. Noone was waiting to be waved through while passing. A 911 turbo entered the track without looking in his rearview mirror and basically ran a Corvette off the road. Glad I was out with the more responsible Italian drivers.

    BTW, nice Milano.

I didnt drive in the touring on Sunday for this reason. I worked the grid and flag tower to keep things in line.

I don't remember who was on grid for touring on Saturday but they should have been on top of that.

I'd do away with touring all together if it wasn't an income source for us. Like most clubs, we struggle to cover the track rental costs as high as they are these days. The touring revenue gives us a little breathing room on the expenses and allows our volunteers a chance to get out and drive the track.

I sincerely apologize if anyone felt their touring session was not pleasant.

If it wasn't for the touring session, the two guys that came with me
wouldn't have bothered. Now they're both hooked! Anyhow, I rode
shotgun in touring group2 and felt only the widebody 911 driving a little
too hard for touring. He did blow by us without us pointing, but only passed
on the straights and gave us quite a bit of room...

Please keep it. Many of us are concerned about our cars but also like to do some "light" driving on a track. Touring fits that bill perfectly. And it is a good way to get newbies in as F355Berlinetta mentioned.

Obviously my car could go a lot faster, but I don't like to stress it too hard and don't want to find out about the driver's limitations the hard way. In tracking I'd be a moving obstacle, in touring I'm just a "challenge car" for others.

The BFR event is being organized by another club member. I don't see tourng going away in the forseeable future. The revenue is too significant to making the events viable.

I look forward to seeing some of you at BFR on July 1 this year. I'll be entering as a participant but please feel free to come and say hello.

Again, thank you for your support. I hope we can participate in more of each others events in the coming years.

BTW, we are already discussing a date for Autobahn next year which I will be running. Given the success last weekend, the format will remain the same.
