Always remember and never forget - you also got it for a song!

Have you done a bit of strip, prep & paint in your time?

oh well i tried to save her guys, but tonight i pronounced the 911 dead on the table. did the compression test and #4 has 95 psi, and indications of a broken or pulled head stud.

i am going to call a local contact and get prices on a re ring kit and valve job for a 2.7. but my gut is telling me to list it cheap for sale in the usual places. i tried to save her. i have the 911 bug now, so dont be surprised if another, non purple one shows up......... :( :( :(

    Good luck.

I'd still strip it and turn it into a track car. Unbelievable number of parts available for those cars.

Unlike everyone else, I like the color. But I've always had a thing for odd color schemes and such.

And like everyone else, I'd strip it out and turn it into an autocross/track car.

i would also endorse this plan. the klub sprot series and pca club racing is getting big! the cars that are well set up bring good money as well.

w/ your mechanical abilities, you could clearly build the car as a track car and keep it vintage correct ...it may be a fun project that you get out of when you are done racing it, w/o being upside down.

you also have access to roebling road, road atlanta, and carolina motorsports park virtually in your back yard! think about it!!!

yes your are all right, but the truth of the matter is i am unhappy at work. i would like to get another high dollar car, but i think its best that i liquidate, have positive cash flow and no liabilities, and then see if anyone wants an overeducated Airframe and Powerplant Tech. i am not making the money i should be. i should be able to pay cash for a Countach or a Boxer. i am so close it hurts, but i do not think it wise to finance a toy.

the time it would take me to do a proper job on the purple Porsche is just not available to me right now. i am getting my FCC license with Radar endorsement and looking into getting my Inspection Authorization from the FAA. sorry to all for going off topic, but i want to paint an honest picture of why i have been acting differently. General Dynamics is a great company. however, i am over qualified for what i am doing and i cant seem to move up without "who do you know" getting in the way. such is all of corperate America i am told. the folks on the Pelican forum have been a great help. its really bad luck that the car has a pulled or broken head stud. i just cannot justify going into the engine. ( no time) buying a used one and swapping it out is a great idea, as the good Judge suggested.

HOWEVER, i think all the cars should go. perhaps its time to reflect and start over. see ya all later. MICHAEL

There's a fairly easy fix to prevent damage if it does backfire: you can install a special valve (like a pop-off valve) on the airbox that releases excess pressure.

Thanks for the tech input, back in the old days when those were made, I don't think that valve was available yet and knew of two friends that had to pay out some big bucks to have them replaced. 911 overall is a very good reliable sports car. I was going to buy a 77 about a week before buying my GT4, but the 77 sold. Destiny I guess!

Sorry to hear Carreaper, personally, I would not mind seeing you start your own exotic car garage business---ReaperDynamics Inc. But heck, I don't know much about starting my own business and I know it would take alot of patience for the 1st five years as with any business. Definitely want to be liquid if you are changing jobs.

    Carreaper,
Did you re-confirm the #4 cylinder as being shot?

At General Dynamics you probably have to wait for someone to die before you can move up the ladder.

LMAO :) yep ......... and yes 3 times i did the test, 3 times 95 psi, the head is not sealing and is leaking . the broken / pulled studs are a known problem with the mag case 911's. i could get away with just putting inserts in and installing a used fuel dizzy. i would rather just move on and pass on the cheap car to someone else. when both are gone, i will know where i am going. lots of work in Florida on aircraft :) .

sorry to vent but one guy wanted to know if he could drive the car home , bear in mind the ads clearly say it has a bad fuel dizzy and low compression on one hole....... there there is the guy with 4 long emails that i took much time in replying to, to only say " oh, i want a 3 liter car, not a 2.7" dumbass, read the 5 page thread on Pelicanparts forum with all the serial numbers and pics, and the 4 page one here........... :) i dont drink much, but i need a beer........ cheers to all. i hope to have a "something" new once i resettle.

holy crap that is a cool little rocket! seems cheap given all thats been done to it. i "have" a 20 foot sail boat my parents want me to sell for them as it is.

the local water ways are a blast, and there are LOTS of places that show signs of activity from the civil war and the REVOLUTION : Savannah was founded in 1733.... i used to dig up arrow heads and civil war bullets when i was a kid playing around. be hard to hide that thing while i am exploring !
