I was just coming on here to post that i saw a silver SLR just now at Erin Mills pkwy and Dundas as well!.... what a champ
Hi Clyde, I also saw the SLR on my way home on Erin Mills around 6 ish..pm, this car is going to cause an accident, people were just stopped looking at it... This guy loves to drive his cars , one day a slammed H2, next a red 360 spyder, Murci, Yellow Diablo roadster and the list goes on.... Good on him, he doesnt keep 'em as garage queens..To respect his privacy i wont say what company he heads up, but he is very well known. Also spotted a red Testarossa parked in the Premier Gym parking lot on Erin Mills near Battleford. I've seen it there parked 2 or 3 times... Cheers, Nick
Maserati coupe coming out of car wash at Canadian Tire on the Queensway just west of 427 at around quarter to eight.
Hey F355 guy, that's usually me parked at Primier on Erin Mills. I guess Mr. Big has himself a new toy,man that must look crazy in motion. Parked beside a blk. Aston Martin Vanquish at Bayview/Yorkmills plaza around 10:30 a.m.
Hey Justsick, Your T/R looks great...Was that your car heading north on Mississauga rd, turning left on Embleton Rd a few weeks ago?.. BTW : You didnt by any chance attend Cardinal Leger High School way back in the mid 80's ? Yeah, Mr Big definately knows his cars...all he is missing is an Enzo !!
Dark Blue 550 on University at College. I watched it take off from a light, and listened for an exhaust note, but heard nothing. That car needs a Tubi.
Saw a very intresting car this morning while bringing the kids to school. A very bright yellow mangusta form the 70s. Very pretty car, it was at Bayview/York mills at the second cup.
Is it the guy that was profiled in a leading business magazine this year? I believe his name was Alex Shnaider. He's a Russian immigrant based in Toronto, and recently purchased the Jordan Formula 1 team. Alex is supposed to have an insane collection of cars as well, and I think he lives in the Bayview/York Mills area.
Hi Sonora, Yes, that's the one...I havent seen it out this summer as of yet, maybe he traded it in. No this guy owns a Telecommunications company based in Mississauga. Hint: He was featured in last years Toronto Star Special Golf guide !! He has a small golf course on his estate grounds... Later..
No, Stinson is another builder. He's not building the Trump tower. Mr. Alex Shnaider apparently is. I could be wrong. Vasco
dont kno the guy personally but i kno who u are talking about i used to live a couple of streets away from him was joggin past his house 1 day and noticed, no garage doors only these two big doors asked around and i heard about his car collection not gonna say more than i have as i am sure he wouldn't want me givin this info out
Hey Vasco, I called stu today and got his v/m again, if you see him or talk to him, can you have him call me on my cell. I never got to finish talking to him about that car. thks.
Hey F355 guy Thanks for the compliments on the TR , yes I was turning on Embleton Rd. last week,I live in the area. I actually went to Clarkson High School in the mid 80's. I know that Mr. Big's wife worked for Microsoft back in the day and took huge stock options. Apparently he's a lawyer and she's still with Microsoft. By the way do you own a 355 fcar ?
Cool, i was right behind you for a few Km's on Mississauga rd. north of Steeles...Your car sounds great...An old high school buddy of mine who lives in your area behind Lionhead Golf course also owns a red T/R. Thats why i asked you if you went to my old high school. Im not too sure about that Justsick, all i know is Mr. Big owns one of Canada's largest Telecommunications company. I see the guy drive a different car every day in the summer down Erin Mills Prkwy... Sorry dont own a 355, still got 4 more yrs of mortgage payments on the house, but Big Red would like this: i own a replica Lambo that i've had for last 15 yrs... Cheers, Nick
Fake it till you make it I guess....why Nick? why? explain this replica thing to me. How is this enjoyable?
Big Red, i was waiting for a response like that I was 21 yrs old when the Lambo bug bit me way back in '88 and didnt have the required $ 250 grand in my piggy bank at the time to buy one..So here i am at the Toronto Auto Show one day and there is a stand on the lower level displaying what i thought at first to be a white Konig Lambo Countach, six feet closer i knew it was a replica.. My family has been in the auto body business for a long time, so i decide this would be a great project to take on and build at the shop and have some fun with it..Im thinking i could build one for like $ 30 , 40 grand tops....by the time i was done ( one year later ), i was closer to 100 grand, which back then would put me behind a slightly used 328...but nevertheless i think the fun of it was putting it together and earning alot about fabrication and assembly..Funny thing was after all that hard work and headaches of putting it together , driving my '89 SuperchargedToyota MR2 was a hell of alot more fun.... Most guys that build these replicas nowadays that i know of, have the financial resources to buy a real F car or Lambo, but dont want the headaches of maintaining them and paying thru the ass for service. Dont get me wrong, i love all things about Ferrari and Lamborghini cars and i would never knock them.. Cheers, Nick
Good story...but I think there is too much of a myth that ferraris are these super expensive things to maintain. Dont get me wrong, they are not cheap and you can get into something very unexpected, but its no different than any other task in life, like a home renovation project. Since you spent that much money.... buying a 328 would have been more enjoyable NO? I guess the thing that irks me about things like this is if you dont have the means, than wait until you do. Not trying to judge or preach to anyone or there life, but I just dont get it. I would personally feel so fake in not having a real thing whether its a real rolex, or real ferrari. I would rather have nothing and accept who I was,and maybe work towards that goal if it was indeed my goal. Your situation is different, you took on a hobby, and thought it would be fun. Maybe I just dont understand the hobby (as with mad building a fake 355). Maybe I will never understand it, but if it floats your boat, and your comfortable in your skin than thats great. P.S. Do you still drive it ?
Rick - Agreed...Some guys will build one to portray it as the real thing and some folks build them, like the Cobra replica guys for pure fun.But tell me you wouldnt kill to have one of Norwood's P4 replicas ripping down the track..That would be heaven ! http://www.bork.ca/pics/?path=cars%2Fmisc%2Fferrari&img=Ferrari%20P4%20%28Norwood%20replica%29.jpg It's been sitting in my garage for 6 yrs until last summer i would start it up every now and then, its going to need a good tune up and maybe check the brakes over... Here is a pic taken last summer. http://www.lamboreplica.co.uk/gallery/Nicks-GB500S/lambo3qtr_1 Nick
Ok, so I know about this guy. Apparently he takes his exotics to Tim Hortons as well. To have a great car collection, you only need $2-3 million. Many executives can afford to shell out that kind of dough.
Nick, for what it is, appearence wise, its a nice layout. The white on white I think is a better combo on the countach anyway, hides all the strong angles. If you have fun with it more power to you, and I guess a sense of accomplishment since you did it yourself, it is something you can take pride in. As for your orginal question, I know new cobra kits are built much better today than the original, and the hodrod cars that are a fad today with old school cars with modern technology and the likes are to enhance the experience. But for me, Im of the old school. If I hop into a 78 trans am, I want it to feel the same way Burt reynolds drove it in smoky in the bandit. If I drive a 57 chevy, I want to enjoy the pleasure of that drive how it was in that era. Others prefer the styling but want todays comfort. As i said before if it floats your boat great. Thanks for sharing the pics with me and others........ now that Ive given you your props on the car, get rid of it, and buy the real thing !! Peace.
Frankzz, Your right he drives right up to the Tim's that's in the Dominion store @ Sheridan Mall in Mississauga every morning with his choice of car. It like having a car show every day for free !! Seems like a cool guy... Later.
