Well, now I'm definitely OUT. Then again, I wasn't going to have my car back this weekend anyway, so I guess that was already going to be a problem...

Right....this weekend saw a break in Spring05 washout weekends and the long range weather models show next Saturday to be dry but still a bit cool, with a northerly breeze off the sound, much like ROEI ,but we will take it!

Latest models show a storm coming in from the southwest on Friday and Friday night to be stronger and further north than earlier predicted....if it slows just a bit more than now predicted the rain could linger into Saturday. Will update daily from here on out.

Model solutions trending wetter and National Weather Service also starting to get nervous about their "dry" forecast for the weekend. Will update when lates pro models runs are in and I study them: by early this afternoon.

An unusual battle of the weather models for this weekend continues. The US runs two sophisticated models on super-computers in Washingon DC: one covers the whole globe and the other only North America (NA) but with a finer spatial grid of points.

The global model continues to track the storm coming out of the midwest well to the south of the tri-state Fri/Sat and so it forecasts dry and mild here all weekend. The NA model, usually the better one at this close range, forecast 1-2 inches of rain in the tri-state Friday and Friday night with slow clearing Saturday after some morning showers. To confuse matters more the usually reliabe EURO model is siding with the US global model (i.e. dry) while the Canadian and British models are siding with the US NA model (i.e. a big rain storm and noreaster!). All this is saying that the "chaos" factor in the atmosphere is very high at this time and the forecast models are likely to be changing radically from run to run and there are four runs per day!.

If I have lost any of you, the bottom line is that with all of this uncertainty, it would be premature to change any plans for Saturday; wait if possible. My own gut feeling is a compromise of the two US models, so chance of some rain Friday and Friday night and mainly dry Saturday, especially over the western half of the tri-state, but this is just an educated guess at this time.

Ironic that all Spring, the weather this past week has been ideal during the weekdays and iffy on weekends. Only if we had planned all our runs and social meets on Wednesday's.

By the way, the days start getting shorter in just four weeks. How did you like this summer!!!!!

    Vinny

After studying all the latest guidance, would not change a word of my last update, so lets go for ROEIII, any stray showers be damxed.
