Isn´t that the renumbered Dino 246 GP car (renumbered 0788??), modified for street use. It´s featured in Cavallino 112.

This is #0788 when owned by Pat Hoare in Christchurch New Zealand. He built it up as a GTO type of "bastardization" Later sold to Logan Fow in Hamilton and then to Neil & Nigel Corner who crashed badly at Donnington? circa 2000 later restored and sold to Tony Smith (manager of a lil rock band called Genesis). I hope all of this is correct. There is a rather interesting article in the latest issue of NZ Classic car magazine about the history of this car.
    Two points though
1 - why when the Ferrari GP chassis where 0001 - 0010 did they call this one 0788 is it the engine number ??.
2 - Also made in New Zealand is one of the 555 super squalo Grand prix cars fitted with a morris minor body !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Tim,

Car was sold to Pat Hoare in November of 1960, having recently had a Testa Rossa V-12 engine installed in it at the factory. It was at this time that it was renumbered to 0788, maybe for customs reasons, maybe because Ferrari wanted Hoare to believe he was buying a new car, not sure. The car came 2nd in the Tasman Championship in 60-61 and then 1st in 61-62. Then in 1965 it was converted to the road going body shown in the photos provided by Boudewijn. The car went from Fow to Nigel Moores, then on to Neil Corner (two different owners, however, both live/ed in England). Went to Tony Smith in 2002 after being restored following at major crash while driven at the Goodwood Revival Festival (not Donnington) in September 2000.

This was way back in the 60's when these cars were just old crapped out race cars. The guys that did this kept the cars racing and mechanically in good health.

Now that they are worth something historically ... yep I'd kill somebody for doing this, but not back then ... whatever made it faster and elible for the race series.

    That´s a hard one...
I´m pretty sure that this is the 212 Export Fontana Spyder s/n 0086E, but it could also be 166 Spyder s/n 0072E. Both cars had a number of body changes in their life. It would be easier to tell when we knew the date of the photo.
