Anyone know how many of the Ducati Senna bikes were made, and how much they are these day?
Yeah, Ducati made a limited edition bikes with SENNA name on. (Sorry, the previous picture was a MV Augusta... but here's the Ducati pic). I think there are only 2-3 in the U.S. (there's a gold one in the Marconi Museum) Only one I could find is this - http://www.chapmanmotorcycles.com.au/Demo%20Specials.htm It's in Australia and asking AUS$55,000... (about USD$49k) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Whoa, that's serious bickies for a 916. Someone is kidding themselves. You can almost buy two 996R's for that money. " The Ducati 916 Senna / Bip The Ducati 916 Senna Senna's were made in three series, just under a 1000 in all. A charity fund-raising project for the Senna foundation they were standard 916 Biposto's with a higher spec of accessories. Carbon bits replaces plastic in a few highly visible areas like the chainguard and the mudguard and an aluminium subframe, it also had the most distinctive paintjob of the 916 series with dark grey metallic paint and red wheels. " Taken from Sigma Perfromance website
So is the MV version also "overpriced" for charity purposes, or it really has more trick bits over then the regular MVF4-750?
The original color scheme (dark grey w/red wheels) was approved by Senna just a few days before his death. The profits from the bike were for a charitable children's foundation in Brazil. The bikes were never imported into the US officially as street-legal models. MSRP for the first series was $22k U.S. Ironically one of Senna's relatives (nephew?) was killed while riding one in Brazil a few ago as well.
There should be a M. Schumacher-edition bikes.... Isn't Michael Schumacher an owner of several Ducati bikes?
I'm not sure which is sexier, the two girls or the bike. It is a fine looking machine in the darker colour, still wouldn't pay 2X998S money for a 916 though.
I am currently considering an MV as a self birthday present for 25 big ones. However I can't decide between the Senna edition or the "plain vanilla" biposto one (SACRILEGE!!!!).
So is a Bimota db5. But it is much more expensive. However MV is not THAT exotic, and more fiscally stable, so less of a pain to get spares + a "Ferrari" engine.
There's one in my village. I've seen one in Lugano (Ticino canton) being chased by a 355 through a mountain pass. Saw a couple in Zurich. But Switzerland is different. At the Aston Martin garage in Geneva I saw TWO Zagato db7's out of 99. And at the village next to mine a guy owns an XJ220. Mv's are pretty cheap here compared to Jap bikes. My 600cbr is almost 2/3 of the price. 25,000 grand for the base MV. 15,000 for the CBR. 18,000 for an R1. So the price difference is inconsequential.
Nope. Leukemia. Jean Bugatti died in a Bugatti after he hit a guy on a bike IIRC. Postman, later commit suicide, also IIRC. Gotta wonder about fate awaiting Patrick Head? No, that was Idi. And Fiedler. But he's not dead yet.
Sfumato, In the Brock Yates book, "ferrari" he said the "possible" cause of death was Syphilis. His Mother was, at one time, A nighttime working woman. No one is for sure but Syphilis was the common thought based on his symptoms before he died.
There's your problem right there. IIRC, agin, not tapping resources, Dino had either leukemia or Hodgkins, got septic(blood infection) and died. Infection/pneumonia is what usually killed/kills people. Syphilis is easily treated, even in 50's. Laura had her faculties as best I have heard, so tertiary syphilis is unlikely. Quick google yielded this article, on pre-antibiotic era in teens. http://homepages.primex.co.uk/~lesleyah/grtscrge.htm Treponema is sensitive to penicillin, so I doubt either would have died knowing the caliber of MD's who patronized Ferrari at the time (not now ) Yates used to be a favorite, but listening to him at Barrett auction convinced me he is less learned than we suspect. The 2nd Cannonball flick didn't help either. OK, I googled, found cause of death listed variously as leukemia, muscular dystrophy(doubtful, he would have been unable to walk well, pneumonia would have killed him sooner), MS...too young, kidney disease(much more likely, but he grew OK, so post streptococcal GN or polycystic renal failure?).... I added his death notice. Obsessed moreerhaps mild cerebral palsy and/or chronic renal disease, which would have made him mildly sickly, but normal ambulation, decreased immune function, and eventual renal failure and death. Syphilis hammers brain, so it is ludicrous at best. Dino was a bright guy. Muscular dystrophies are all over in my practice, and they have normal intelligence(actually better than normal) but lousy respiratory muscles, usually can't walk by 12-14. Do you know what this Ducati is? It is a Ducati, but has a Ferrari stickers on and is signed by Jean Todt. Did Ducati sell Ferrari-Edition bikes? Image Unavailable, Please Login
