Is this a retrofit or done by factory?

    Im looking at an F car and the pic of the badge worries me a bit. It looks to me like the badge is a retrofit and not done by the factory. Am I mistaken? The factory scuderia badges I've seen has a different fit. It's sort of embossed and you can see a slight slope in the paint work (about 1.5 mm) between the paint and down to where the shield fitment starts. On the pic it seems like the badge is either glued on without embossing it or that a space exactly equal to the size of the shield has been carved out and subsequently fitted with the badge. Any F car owners care to let me know and perhaps post close up pics of their shields?

    Peter, I believe the factory shields are set into the fender, not applied onto it.

    factory one is set to the fender. thats a sticker in your pic.
    you worry too much, its really not a big deal unless the seller is lying about it being factory.

    I need the car to be the way I want it to be. I'm very particular with all my cars, even my beater. So a sticker or a retrofitted shield is a dealbreaker. Shame though, everything else is exactly what I want.

    Seems it shouldn't necessarily break the deal. Tell the seller you want the car IF the badges are removed and IF the paintwork is perfect underneath. That may cause the seller to run, but at least you won't be kicking yourself if this is indeed otherwise the perfect car.

    I'd be kicking myself in the head if I bought a ferrari w/out the shields. The scuderia shields are such nice detail. Some say it ruins the flow of the lines but for me it accentuates it and makes it look better. Call me crazy.

    Sorry--didn't realize that you wanted shields. If so, factory (or with factory replacement fenders) is the only way to go.

    If you're set on them the factory shields are the only way to go. What exactly are you looking for? Maybe some people here can help, not sure if you posted it somewhere else.

    Thanks alot you guys. And thanks for the pic. Thats exactly what I'm talking about. There's sort of a ledge between the paint and the shield. I also got word from the dealer that it is a retrofit (done by a dealer whatever that means, (it prolly means the job is farmed out to the nearest decent body shop)). Search goes on.
    Well I have posted before that I'm looking for an 01 to 02 (maybe 03) titanium on black F1 360 modena. Prefer challenge rear grill but can work around it since changing it requires no bodywork.

    farmed out!! its a $10 plastic stick on shield off ebay. pull it off and use the metal shields. cost about $250 a pair look almost like the real thing do a search of SF Shields and your see.
