Got my copy in the mail yesterday. Didn't have an opportunity to read it yet, but your car really looks great! It must be so cool to have your car and story in a magazine like that, congratulations! Showed my wife it and said "that's a guy's car from my new Ferrari online club". Pretty neat.

Thank you for the comments - really appreciate them...

I also really appreciate that Forza put a lot of time and effort into my car. Given the crazy beginnings of my search, and the initial events that happened with this car after I bought it, the effort turned out to be worthwhile.

Now, if my issue would just arrive.....

    Thanks,

    Anthony

Nice "Back to Basics" article and it was the first one I read in the issue when it arrived. I did notice the FerrariChat reference!

    Anthony,

That was an excellent article on your car. Your car is beautiful.

I have a similar 1976 car...s/n 19803. Mine is fiberglass, but most else is the same as yours.

    Some questions:

    1) What is the build date on yours?

    2) I think I see in the photos that you have an aftermarket exhaust. I have not been successful in finding a system that I like and can afford. What exhaust system is on your car?

    3) It looks like you have the smog pump on the car and that it is disconnected. Are you required to do smog testing in your area? Are you going to show the car with the smog pump disconnected?

Just curious as I am struggling with these issues on my car.

    Thanks for any help.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

    Thank you for the comments!

    Mine is a late 1976. December 1976.

The exhaust on the car right now is a Euro Ansa exhaust that originally came on the Euro 308s - the article mentions a new (meaning another) exhaust was put on while the car was serviced just before I got it - this "new" exhaust was a used Ansa which someone painted with a crappy high-heat paint that is graying - you can see the discoloration in the photo - I have since painted it with a quality brush-on paint.

You can get a new Ansa for a 308 for about $1200 - sound great, look great with the classic chrome tips...they are not stainless steel though. A Tubi is much more $$, sound great, free-flowing, stainless....

As far as the smog pumps....I kept them in the engine bay for completeness(if the pump that runs off the exhaust cam seizes....well, not a good thing...)....

    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

    OK. Thanks for the update.

Yes, I thought the exhaust looked like an Ansa, but not sure. I am definitely going to try to find one. Although, in California I have to have the smog tested every 2 years even though the car is old. So I will have to swap the old thermoreactor muffler in and out every 2 years. Yuck.

Thanks, and good luck with the car.

    Mark

Hey Dave, I got my copy on Saturday... Why does it take the USPS an extra day to deliver the same magazine to Milford instead of Fairfield???

Anthony - Your 308 is very nice!!! I like that color!!! The best pic is the one on page 83 of the front of your car in motion!!!

How bout a Connecticut run sometime fellas??!!!

Stebro exhausts are about the same price as the Ansa and are indeed stainless steel. They also have removable tip inserts so you can really go wide open at track events if you want to. I've been very happy with mine. Oh, and www.Stebro.net gives a 10% discount to FCA members.

I just got my issue and read the article about your car and it truly is a great story. Looks like it was definately worth the wait for you.
One question for you, it shows a picture of your 14 inch wheel and states that you will be refurbishing them but they look mint to me!

I loved the article. I wish Forza would do similar articles of under $75K Ferraris every month. How was it that you got in touch with forza to do such an article?

    Thank you.....

Rob....as far as the wheels.....a past owner refurbished them, but the problems are he did not prep them correctly - three out of the four are starting to chip - and two have curb "rash". The one in the pic is the best out of all of them! Also, some of the paint on the car is original - the lower flat black portion of the front spoiler is original and is chipping - I have since touched this up - of course everytime I look at the front pic I see this !

As far as Forza - I submitted a story about my search, the car, etc - it generated interest and they contacted me - it was a great surprise.

    Thanks,

    Anthony

Yank, I would love to be in your shoes......if my shoes were smaller. I think that GTBs (308 & 328) are some of most beautifull ferraris ever made. They are reasonably priced and as reliable as Ferraris come. Unfortunately their interior is too cramped for me. At 6'1, I find the offset pedals and the lack of headroom too severe. Its very uncomfortable for someone my size and its a damn shame! I recently saw GTBI at a shop near my house and its beauty is just stunning. I drove by just to see the car at least 4-5 times. In any case, I loved the story and wish you the very best.

That's interesting. I'm 6'1" and I was comfortable in my '77 B (photos below). Granted, it wasn't a luxury liner but I never felt cramped. Different strokes I guess.

BTW, I couldn't agree more with your comment about this series being one of the best looking ever.

    Thank you, Rammer!

...I'm 6 feet myself with long legs/arms....The GTB fits me okay as far as leg/head room.....a little more would be nice though......

Dane, I remember when you bought your blue 308 from Forza Motorsports (you're the Black Hawk pilot right?)......I came very close to buying that one....I remember it drove great, sounded great with the Tubi....solid, highly original car from what I remember........I remember it being back at Forza after you bought it.....did you end up keeping it?

    Anthony,

I did fly Blackhawks but have since transitioned to the Apache; it's nice having the option to shoot when shot at.

I bought the car from Peter Sweeney but basically traded it back for a Mondial 8 as I thought I needed a 2+2 for a youngster. The Mondi' was a ton of fun to drive, even more so than the "B." Still, the "B" was a special car and I do miss her.

    Thanks for asking. Dane
