Canadian Auto Press is saying it is Front Engine. They also say V-8 Engine instead of a V-10 though so who knows if they are right. Hopefully, Lexus will improve the looks before they come out with the car. It is crazy that another $100K+ car might be available in the near future. It used to be just Exotic Car. Now we have high-end, medium, low-end exotics. If you just look at pricing, there are some sedans that exceeds $100K today. If Lexus/Toyota build a car selling for $200K, would you buy? For $100K's, they are hoping you will. If this model become success, there will be more higher end of cars rolling out from their factory.
I think we are going to see a bunch more cars coming out in the Ford GT range. Fairly low dollar vs performance in the scheme of supercars. If Lexus or any company for that matter brought out a car that was truley worth 200k, or 500k for that matter, I would look into it. I can't imagine these companies offering an overpriced car though, they have to get that supercar foot in the door first. I'm excited about all the new competition though
hi first post here. it is interesting that you desire for fioravanti to come back to design ferraris. i love the 308/328 design as well. not sure if this has been mentioned here before. leonardo fioravanti was responsible for the lexus lf-a design. just something interesting to note. personally, i think the lf-a looks great. hope they build it and don't change too much to it. http://www.automobear.com/WhatThe2006LexusISIsAndIsnt.html scroll all the way to the bottom of the article. "Lexus and Fioravanti are open about the fact that Fioravantis hand penned the LF-A Concept shown in Detroit"
I hope every car manufacter makes a super car. That means supercars will become readily available and cheaper.
who cares what it looks like, within reason: it's a Toyota, it'll be super cheap to run, it'll go like stink, and it'll cost nothing to run. I'm waiting for them to be 4-5 years old and discounted to $40k. Wonder how well the suspension, handling, and steering will work together - it's been a few years for toyota/Lexus to build a sports car.
It doesn't look too good in those concept pix. There was another toyota/lexus hybrid sports car concept floating around it that one looked much better. If they stick with those numbers and improve the styling. I am definitely interested.
As an avid NSX supporter and owner of a 1998 NSX-T, I'll be the first to agree with you that Honda should have had a substantial redesign years ago. But... I disagree with some of your statement. Ultimate HP isn't everything and as much as I respect the capabilities of the EVO MR comparing the two cars is a silly proposition. One's blown the other isn't. Moreover would you say that because the Evo will rip the doors off many F cars, P cars, and Lambo's built before 1990 that those cars are somehow crap? I wouldn't. My $7,000 Honda sportbike will annihalate most anything made today in a straight line but that doesn't mean squat other than to people who "magazine race". Back on topic, I'm excited that Toyota/Lexus is contemplating a high dollar sports car. Competition is always good and if they can make somethign which is visceral, attractive and reliable... how does that hurt. I would question anyone's logic if they disagreed that the original NSX helped push Ferrari and others to build better cars and I doubt that a Lexus badged super car wouldn't do the same.
Oh. I thought those largish indentations below taillight assembly were fold-out seats for tailgate parties or something.
The key is the production numbers. If all these companies make limited numbers, it won't hurt too bad. I could also see some carmakers go higher in price, to maintain the "super-rich" tag.
