The stock four can factory exhaust was made by Ansa . Ansa also made a 'sports' system that only had two cans which also had larger diameter tubing from the headers to the tail pipes. While my BB512i has the Ansa 'sports' system, it is not black like the one for sell on Ebay, but is the same metallic color as the OEM four can system.
It does not look like my fac exhaust either. The hi bidder, is a known F broker. I MISS MY BOX !!!!! Still is major (cam belts) time !!!
Ansa had a little ribbon of red tape seperating the chrome tip and a yellow decal on the black krinkle finish tubes....Those were the days. Many Ferrari SNAPS exhaust systems were ansa. They hang down like a pair of B@lls. They are sweet!
Does anyone know whther there are differences btween a bb and bbi in terms of fitting such an exhaust.
512BBs and 512BBis use the same headers. BUT- there was a factory "sport header" option for use with a two canister sport exhaust system. The sport headers are like the 365BB headers. They are slightly larger diameter and the big main outlets "curve" off to the sides, instead of going almost straight back like the stock 512BB/i headers. The inlets on those eBay mufflers appear to be configured for the "sport headers." If so, they will NOT fit the stock 512BB/i headers. I ran into this problem recently when I ordered a custom exhaust. The manufacturer assumed that I had sport headers and the mufflers they built for me would not fit my car. Here a shot of what the regular 512BB/i header outlets look like. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tom Shaughnessy bought them. They were for std BB headers and it is a very good exhaust sys. In the mid 80's I installed many of them on 512's. Made the cars sound and run great. Also lighter than stock.
