    had a mishap today which makes me hands down the dumbest guy in this community. my rear wheel almost feel off on the highway. need couple new things;

    1. the camp. wheels for my 308 gt4 has two bolts which are in the brake housing which fit into the wheel; they're at opposite sides of the drum. (it's not really a brake drum; it's the part where the holes are into which the wheel bolts screw in) what is the part/bolt called: it has a nut which is screwed tight to the based of the who? mine are bent in half so I need two more; are they ferrari specific or would any local autozone have it?

    2. need 5 new wheel bolts. the local auto store didn't have them? anyone know a good source?

    3. the inside of my wheel lost some metal; it got kindof ground out; no visible damage to the brake rotor and the holes into which the bolts screw in appear to be ok in that temporary replacement bolts from my other set of wheels (bbs 16") appear to hold torque, and the car appears to drive and brake normally now.

    any danger in continuing to use the wheel? would a balance of the wheel be in order, or is there another test which which could tell if the wheel is operating properly.

    finally, I'm in need of some more brains, any to spare out there. thanks, rick jaffe.

    1) These sound like they might be the wheel alignment studs (#104370). Listed on the FUK parts thing at about $1 each

    2) Wheelbolts for a GT4 from FUK are either 108842 or 108843 & are about $60 - EACH (!) (Think yourself lucky, the rear bolts for a 328 are $300 each !!)

    Your best bet for these might be Hill Engineering unless you can find someone in the USA who's making them. http://www.hill-engineering.co.uk/ They seem to do them for about $17 each

    3) I'd definitly take your wheel to get it looked at by someone who knows wheels. Its impossible to know how bad it is without seeing it. Maybe someone could crack test it for you.

    Can't help on the new braincell front - these are in worldwide short supply at the moment.

    Cheers

    I.

    I have an extra set of wheels, 16" BBS. Been thinking about putting them on. Since one of the 14" wheels has some lost metal at the inside, and since I would need new wheel bolts, and would have to have the wheel checked/and possibly replaced, decided just to buy tires for the 16" and put them on instead. still need the wheel guide bolts but it doesn't seem that they are structural or necessary for holding the wheels on. Thanks all.

    decided to get new tires for my 16" wheels and have all the wheel bolts. called t rutlands about the brake wheel allignment bolts, turns out they want 20 bucks each. me thinks that's pretty excessive even for a ferrari.

    That's what I was thinking. The best price I've seen was Hill and they're somwhere around $17/bolt (depending on exchange rate).

    According to the web page listedabove the Ferrari bolts were $5.49/bolt.

    The finish on the bolts I bought were polished stainless-ish. A little less shiny than the factory bolts. I think. To be candid, I really don't notice a difference, as I don't worry about this stuff. Hey, for a delta of $55-95 dollars PER BOLT, these could be pink for all I care! :)

    vty,
