The two-tone painted car in the lower pic is 0024 M.

    Hi Peter,

this is the car that your grandfather drove at Le Mans, albeit a little bit later on in its life when it was owned by Jim Kimberly.

The photos were taken during the 1950 6 Hour Sam Collier Memorial Race at Sebring Florida. The car was driven by its owner and Marshall Lewis.

They finished 2 OA, 1st IC.

Great photo (lower). I never realized that the right side headlamp glass got broken and knocked off in the race! (see other period photos)

Looks like a Morris Minor Convertible to me. It was introduced in 1948 / 1949 so that would fit.

I think Marcel has probably forgotten as much as the rest of us combined know. It's a treasure (at least for me) to have him here on the forum.

Would like to make a minor correction. It was not one race, but 2, both supporting races to the Swiss Grand Prix. The "Prix de Berne" was for Formula 2, r/n 36 there had Paul Glauser with the Veritas Meteor of Ecurie Suisse. The other support race was for sports cars and was the "Prix de Bremgarten", here #36 was Staechelin with his MM.

The photo shows Staechelin with #36, but acc. to my files taken of the "Prix de Thurgau", the sports cars support race of the Erlen F2 race (Grand Prix de la Suisse Orientale). Can anybody based on the background confirm either Bremgarten or Erlen?

This photo was taken at Erlen, not Bern-Bremgarten.

By the way, do you have any information about the monoposto Staechelin drove in the 1st half of 1951 in 125 (F1) and 166 (F2) configuration?

I know, as does the 125 s/c engine #12C which came with the car. Understand the 166 F2 engine is numbered #01F, can you confirm this? Other sources even say the car itself is #01F, but even if so, it should have been renumbered #0104.

So was your grandfather Jean Lucas or Pierre Louis Dreyfus?

SFumato / Lee, What was your association with 0008M?

Great to see these period photos! Thanks all, George

ChalStrad & SFumato - any comment (post above)?

When Tom Price and Bob Baker had the car it saw a lot of track time. Unfortunately, except for the rare concours, number 0008M now seems to hibernate. I am glad to see Jon Shirley really using and enjoying the "other" team car. - George

Given the fact that Jean Lucas died in 2003... uh... I think his grandfather is Pierre Louis Dreyfus (a.k.a. Helde).
