Monaco is nothing more than a fancy Long Beach.

Easy there Ernie, Monaco is no Long Beach. I would rather watch SPA on TV but Monaco in person is really special.

I would like to say one thing. If you have not been to the Monaco GP, you have not had the complete F1 expereince.

The first F1 race I had ever been to was Monaco. I have also been to Montreal twice and Spain once. Monaco is by far the best F1 race. Monaco is one of those events that everyone should experience, even though you are not an F1 fan. Its not the racing that is exciting, its the fact that you can sit in a restaurant eat world class food and drink champagne while you watch Schumacher screaming through the streets. Its also amazing to hear the F1 cars in Monaco. No matter where you are, you can hear through out the whole city. I have never heard anthing more amazing than the sound of an F1 car racing in the city streets of Monaco.

I thought the crowds would be 4 or 5 deep by the fence/barrier. You can really sit at a restaurant at street level and watch Schumi go by with an unobstructed view? Do they close the sidewalk off in sections and allow you to have a ringside view through the glass front? Pretty cool!

Also, how is it in Spain? And in Montreal?

And how come you don't go to the USGP at Indy?

Yes, I taped the race itself to watch after my return, but didn't bother to record qualifying. By the way, I saw Ralf's crash at Tabac on Saturday, as I was sitting in the K grandstand, as usual- he looked more than a little perturbed after climbing out of the car!

Precisely where Ralf crashed I used to stand on the other side of the armco back in the eighties to take pics. Those were the days...

My cousin lives in France, Nice and gets invited every year for the Monaco race. He knows the owner restaurant which sits at the Portier corner. I went back in 99 Ferrari got 1 and 2. As for Montreal and Spain, Montreal is awesome and night life is great. I have been twice and both times got to go into the pit area. As for Spain, it is also great, but not as big as event as Montreal or Monaco. I have not gone to Indy, because just never got around to it. I will try to go this year.

If you don't have tickets, forget it. It will be very difficult to see the race unless you are way up on the hills which may not prove to be a good experience overall. I guess if you stay at Rascas (spelling) you would be sitting at the restaurant in the last turn and watch the cars go by while sipping on your favorite drinks and munching your favorite meal. When we went, we had tickets to the Caravelles 15th floor roof, where the party was set up. We were on top looking down directly between the start finish and the first turn and had the view of overall 2/3 of the track. We could not see the hotel/casino turn and the tunnel and the last turn through Rascas. Everywhere else we could see cars battling it together.
I have been to two other races and the sounds of F1 do not compare to the one in Monaco. It is literarily hair raising. The sound will tingle the eardrums and the overall experience was never complete at other two trcks.

I remember coming into Monaco during Saturday qualifying and when you enter Monaco you come from top so you see the whole city from above. It was amazing, I remember rolling my window down and hear the cars from miles away. We did not have tickets for Saturday, so we had park our car at the enterance of Monaco and walk down. You could hear the cars throughout the city!
