JPM: All show and no go, and spoiled rotten to boot.

Years ago I detested Hunt after he nipped Lauda by one point. It didn't seem right after what Niki had gone through that season. He was the antithesis of Lauda's cool, engineer persona.

Come to think of it, couldn't stand Irvine either. Do your talking on the track...

At the risk of sounding cruel or mean, DALE EARNHARDT SR. This dude lived by the sword and ultimately died by the sword. How someone who made a career out of knocking people out of his way can be so revered by so-called race fans is amazing. Racing used to be about going faster than the other guy, not slowing down and blocking, or by intentionally spinning someone. He redefined demolition derbies into NASCAR IMHO...His kid, however, seems to exude class and frequently has better talent than equipment. Go figure...

While Dale Sr was one of the hardest racers in Nascar and did give drivers the chrome horn, other drivers accepted that he was like this and acted accordingly. They raced Sr just the same way he raced them and he had no problem with that. It's also impossible to deny an immense amount of talent. His car control was as good as anyone else i'd ever seen. One of the lasting memories I have of him is watching the incar footage of him pounding around in the Rolex 24 in the Corvette, in the rain at night. The man did not put a wheel wrong and enjoyed it so much he asked to be left in for a second stint. Another I have is Eddie Cheever knocking him through the grass during the IROC race that year, Sr just snapping the wheel and catching that thing when he should have been in the wall. Deeply impressive.

..isn't that what ASSCAR is all about... driving in circles until someone gets turned around - w/out Earnhardt Sr. ASSCAR wouldn't have the popularity it has today...which makes a Pr1ck (thanks to him Speedvision now sucks)

JPM... for acting the same way as Senna (ie a real pr1ck) but not having the talent.
