When and where is this show? How do you get tickets and can I bring my Ferrari? Is it an FCA event? Do you have to be a member of the club to attend this thing? I would like to go...
Dude, this is the Monterey Historics weekend. It's car guy disneyland. Anyone can go. No club participation is necessary. Just bring a wallet filled with $100 bills and you're set. This year it's Aug 17 thru 19. Friday is Concorso Italiano - bring your Italian car. More Ferrari's than you can shake a stick at. I'll be there. http://www.concorso.com/ Fri, Sat, and Sun is the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca. These are a blast! I often avoid the crowds and spend some of thursday at Laguna Seca to watch the entrants practice and tweak their cars. It's free on thursday, too! http://www.montereyhistoric.com/ Sunday is the Pebble Beach Concours. http://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/ book your room now - they fill up. There are also 4 or 5 auctions going on, and a few other events. I hear good things about the Quail Lodge Concours event on Friday, but you apparently have to be invited to it. -steve
I talked to Pimp on the phone tonight. I need some feedback what the FC users want to do. There isn't going to be the 80+ person turnout we had last year for the Ferrari year, but I'm sure you guys can get a good turnout. I would like to see this continue as the 2nd annual FerrariChat.com gathering at Monterey. Jordan did a great job organizing last year, but can't this year. Anyone else want to pick the responsibility up? Basically just get a headcount here and then call in the reservation. Pimp knows I wouldn't be happy about him coming in and taking over the event as a Rampage event when it was started by FC users and will be promoted here. So provide your feedback what you want. Pimp was going to have a gathering of non-FerrariChat.com Rampage people, so should we try to combine it or just plan on separate events?
I'd like to see something similar to last year. It doesn't have to be some expensive thing either. To simplify things maybe we could select a place and then have people send in their payment to F-chat through PayPal or have the restaurant/venue handle it directly. At this point we'll probably need to have someone with a good idea of a spot in mind and possibly a contact seeing as we're running out of time. It's good to see that Rob/F-chat is overseeing this to make sure it can be attended by all and it has the F-chat community's best interest in mind. Anyone have a place they want to throw out as an idea here?
Last year it was a large event and more planning required by Jordan because we reserved the lawn and had catered food. I suggest you handle it as I do the Indy gathering. Just get a loose headcount. Get a reservation at a restaurant. Everyone pays their own. Don't make it too complex by taking prepayments or having the restaurant have to do anything special. Just order off the menu. I find this approach is easiest and works best for groups less than 30-40.
OK, I see that we have about 16 interested people now. This will probably grow to say 30 or more. Not unless someone has any ideas I'll make some calls. What was the name of the place that we met on Thursday night last year on Cannery Row? Was that Harbor House/Chart House or something?
Unless the numbers are unwieldy, lets see about combining the events and keeping the family intact. Count us in (2) for one or both if thats how it works out.
After discussing this with Rob we've decided to have this year's 2nd Annual F-Chat dinner at the Chart House on Cannery Row in Monterey. The Chart house has an excellent menu with a million dollar view of Monterey Bay! They've also recently completed a huge renovation on the place. The plan is to meet at 7:15PM for cocktails then dinner at 8:00PM. Everyone will pay their own way with the restaurant issuing separate checks. It took some convincing to allow the Executive Chef, Greg Harris to agree to this separate checks thing as opposed to a group contract so I've promised to do an accurate RSVP list for him. They're excited to be a part of our event! 2nd Annual Monterey FerrariChat Dinner Friday, August 19th, 2005 444 Cannery Row Monterey, CA 93940-1433 (831) 372-3362 7:15PM Cocktails, 8:00PM Dinner http://www.chart-house.com/ Please RSVP here or to me directly So far we've got: Art 2 Napolis 6 SrfCity 2 Writerguy 2 Sjvalin 2 Kevallino 2 Xsssive 2 Zsnnf 2 The place can host about 40 tops for dinner so RSVP early!
