What would you do if the S/F hired your most unfavourite driver as their new #1?

  1. I would accept it. As long as Ferrari wins I don't care who sits at the wheel.

  2. I would ignore #1 and cheer for their #2 driver.

  3. I would ignore my loyalty for the Scuderia and hope #1 looses every race.

  4. I would cheer for another team until #1 was sacked.

What are the odds? Me, an American attack helicopter pilot, supposedly hot-headed, right-winged and war mongering, having a chuckle with a Canadian, perhaps French speaking, corporate financeer?!? LOL!

BTW, I've been to Montreal for two GPs. Fantastic city.

If my memory serves me correctly, there was quite a split in the tifosi (the Italian ones anyway) back when Schumacher was picked to drive for the Scuderia. Many weren't too enthralled at the prospect. Others, on the other hand, were willing to give him a chance. That rift healed very quickly under the same red banner, especially when he turned out to be Ferrari's Messiah :)

True tifosi will always support the squadra. If a driver does not live up to the red shoes, the blame is with him (or her--hey, it may happen). To put it another way: if your pure, virgin only daughter came home with a real jerk of a guy, would you love her less? :)

As for Montoya, I'm actually starting to like him. He is so insufferably bad in every conceivable way that he's becoming the dunce-villan of Formula 1. If he were to leave tomorrow, I'd probably miss him. Every arena needs a buffoon. If he came to Ferrari, (he won't) it would be one hell of a twist.

I'm not a Ferrari fan because of MS, I am just a LUCKY Ferrari fan because of MS. Swapping out to another team because of a different driver is like dumping your favorite football team because of a coaching change. It doesn't work that way - unless you are a fair-weather fan and if you are, who needs you anyway?

It's funny I was thinking the same the other day....that JPM has now become the resident "villiage idot or class idiot" title that DC held for such a long time.

I actually kind of like DC now that he knows he has no chance in hell to win anything. He seems relaxed and having fun and isn't prone to his "this year is my year..................blah, blah, " rantings.

For some reason I see DC in a different light at Red Bull than at McLaren. It's almost as if he were made for Red Bull. I am actually going to miss him if he leaves F1.

    Regards,

    Jon

    LOL

Didn't Lauda once say something like that about the driving aids? These cars can be driven by a monkey. And then he sat into "his" Jaguar F1 and spun out...

This is the difference between F1 and pretty much any other racing series. We root for the manufacturer, then driver............they root for the driver then manf.

I'd root for Ferrari no matter who they put in the seat.....well except for maybe Bernie. ;-)

Lets not go too far, I gave you the MS part but not RB (although I think the world of him). Definately "one" of the greatest teams ever, but Mercedes in the 50's with Fangio and Moss was pretty darn good, as so was the 88 McLaren team. If they had an equal Number 1 driver like Mercedes and McLaren had than there would be no doubt.

Lets try to keep the flame down and keep Andreas happy?

That would be Senna and Prost in 88 and 89. None of that number two driver crap.

I recall Prost claiming and complaining that Senna got preferred treatment by McLaren.

I don't care that much who drives for Ferrari but I was happy that MS, allready a two time WC and in demand, came to Ferrari. It was better for Ferrari to have MS on their side. He gets a lot of flak but it's lonely at the top and it comes with the job. Sure everybody wants the champ to be a nice guy and give great interviews but you can't satisfy everybody. He has satisfied the Ferrari fans with his victories. The #2 status of RB and Eddy personally I find unfortunate but understandable. I really hoped Eddy would win in 1999 (as long as Ferrari would be champion).

Yes he did complain of this at the time just like RB is complaining about MS now too, lol. My point is they were allowed to fight and in 88 when Mclaren had a dominant car they were allowed to race for the title. Not like 04 when you knew it was gonna be MS. In terms of just plain skills Senna and Prost are better than MS and RB. Fangio and Moss were a great line up too.

There can't be a question on that, as in my opinion in the modern era the three best drivers are Prost, Senna, and Schumacher in no particular order. But you can't even mention RB in the same breath as those three. Prost complained in 88 that Senna was getting preferential treatment from Honda. But if you read the latest interview with him on F1-live, he doesn't think that anymore.
