Same here, plus my dad's S&W Chief Special. I'm pretty rusty. Maybe I'll go relearn how to shoot and get a CHL....anyone know a good CHL instructor?

I don't know a specific CHL instructor, but...

I have also been putting off getting my CHL. If there's a handful of people interested, maybe we could put a group together and get a good rate by taking it as a group?

PM me if you are interested in something like this. If I get at least 3 or 4 other people, I'll do the legwork and find us a good instructor.

AMEN buddy! I was born and raised in sunny California and moved here as fast as I could at 22 years old. Question,,, If my children are born in Texas can I become a Texas Citizen?

Also count me in for the conceal carry class..

I got talked into co-owning a barret 50 cal for a while. Gun ranges dont want to see them especially with full metal jacket. There is a place at the trinity river bottoms that allow such things as well as full auto/class three stuff. Alpine is a great place, laid back yet has all the ranges one could want.

About 5 bucks a shot Jim. Cheaper by the belt :)

I know a Class III dealer with a safe full of fun. If we had one of these in Houston I am sure he would show up just to see the Ferraris and blow a megawad of lead down range. He and a bunch of other locals I know can break out more full auto WWII machinary then you can shake a stick at. I believe there are still two. There is also an M60 in the safe.

Maybe by then I will have my Druganov and SKU. I have a fetish for 7.62x39.

If you want to see a fire breather...shoot an SVT-40. Weee fun! (7.62x54 semi auto)

I am against violence. Everyone is beautiful in thier own way. Make love , not war.

That said, I would prefer targets that can run with TVs and shoot back. If this event occurs, I shall bring the historically significant "Blue Thunder" out of retirement for an afternoon. Too bad it will not be a night shoot. The flames and muzzle blast from "Blue Thunder" is spectacular at night...

I would be interested in a shooting day. I didn't realize we had folks with HK MP5s, 53s, M2s etc. Would be more fun to go somewhere other than a range. The ammo depot lease is an option but ground clearance a little problem for any Ferrari. Bigger problem is where to carry all the ammo!

    Hey Ladd!

Sean, would a Saturday morning (before it gets really hot) in July or August work for you? There arent many weekend FCA events those two months.

Also, can you give us an idea of how long the drive is to your place near Texoma, from Downtown Dallas?

So far, it just sounds like Jason and I interested in a concealed carry class. Anyone else interested, either post it here or send me an PM if you want to keep your packing heat a secret. :)

I am taking my renewal class this month. Time to kill a little blue paper dude 50 times. My goal is a 5 inch diameter pattern this time...was 6.5" last time...so embarrassing.

Have you ever seen an SVT-40 shot at night? Truly enlightening. Mine is nicknamed Drachen Fire. It is blank adapted but still spits a mighty flame with blanks or live ammo (with the adapter removed of course!!)

Yes, I would like to do this. I've only shot a pistol a few times and don't own one. Otherwise shotguns and rifles I've probably shot close to 10,000.

Should I buy a pistol before the class or do they have guns already? Don't you have to qualify? What kind of gun would you recommend?

    Is Ron's AR50 considered a "side arm"? :D

Truth be told, I want to do it too but I don't know if Judith would be too happy about it... I'll have to ask.

I'd recommend shooting a few different ones before you buy, and yeah, I'd buy one before the class.

I'm thinking end of the summer before I can find us a class, I'm getting busier at work and it looks like it will continue. :) So you've got time.

We could definitely do a Saturday morning. The land is up near Whitesboro, between Sherman and Gainesville - about an hour and a half from downtown Dallas. We have 35 acres with a few (usually dry) creeks and some old cars that have been shot to hell. Let me know what you guys think.
