Welcome fellow Canadian!
Hi Jessica We have a Canada section on this site for local goings on. I spent 6 months looking for my first Ferrari, FChat content was a major contributor to my decision/conclusion that I could fix most things myself. Gerrit Still grinning after almost 5 years of FCar ownership.
Scan the technical section. If you have the time and facilities to do porsche projects, you can likely do a lot of your own maintenance on an older Ferrari. Which is one way to be sure it's done right. And if you're playing with P-cars and Audis, you're probably already familiar with CIS. Or there's the carb'd versions ...
she'll stay until she starts looking into the kitty fishsticks business - then, like so many others, she will run away and warn others that quirky lunatics abound here . . .
Welcome aboard! For what it's worth, I've been driving my VW for 18 years, which is how I justified getting the 328. And, the funny thing is, I've been aspiring to replace the VW with a TT since before the TTs even came out. Maybe after the VW hits 20 ... Relative to maintenance, before I got my Fcar, people told me "the 328 is a bulletproof car - great first Ferrari." So far, I have to agree. I put about $4K into the 30K service, and beyond that it's just been fluid changes (plus some of the completely optional anal things) - really minor stuff. And the lines are beautiful. Regarding FerrariChat, of the several online Ferrari communities I've seen, this is the best by far. Ken
thanks so much everyone! The wierdest thing happened i went home last night and told my honey that i was signed up on ferrarichat...never having talked about it before.... and he was like, no way i was on that site today... his first time as well... and then we started talking about the TT/mondial switch and the lights went on! ha ha.... we plan on gettng a house out of the way first but its a good goal to have! You make good points about maintaing Fcars vs what i already drive, and for the most part could work on myself (with help from him of course!!) The TT we arent too concerned about its leased... but the porsche is just my pet... I know we could clearly GET a 944 for a lot less than turning mine into one, but im emotionally attachefd to that car, because its that car, and also my first porsche, and my first incredible birthday present!! it will probably never end up selling because i will be so picky about who buys it ha ha!!
Welcome to Fchat. I innocently signed on to Fchat and Tom Yang's board (Vintage V12 site) in October 2001 and by December 1, 2002 owned a Ferrari.
I know what you mean. Thats why I can't bring myself to sell the Datsun 240Z, the widebody RX7 or supercharged Miata. I feel like they are my children w/ my genetic code intertwined w/ theirs.
Welcome. By the way this is FerrariChat not Ferrari(OWNERS)chat. Of course you don't have to own one. I was even an active member in the FCA for 5 years before I bought one myself.
believe it or not i dont have any digi-pics of the porsche, or a scanner... i wish i could post my pride and joy here! Riverflyer-somehow i missed your post, and just saw it now. A road trip up here is a wonderful idea!! (you can crash with us if you pass through, as long as whatever you are driving gets to sleep in my garage for a night!) LATE August is actually probably the worst time to come though... its hot and dry and most of the beautiful trees and fields have dried (if we have another dry summer) and gone brownish, late june early july, and early September are beautiful though. Especially september for cruising because the leaves are turning everywhere is so colourful, and its cool enough that you dont have to run your A/C constantly, but warm enough to get out in "linens" or a tshirt and walk about. hope that helps.
First of all, welcome! If you don't mind throwing money at the 924, how about going for a 924 GT look instead of the 944 kit? The hood scoop might be a little silly for a normally aspirated engine, but the 924 GT look will turn heads every time. I love the fender flairs on that car.
Welcome Jessica. This a great site and its yery informative and addictive. A great resource for just about anything with four wheels. Enjoy
Welcome aboard to a fellow Canadian. This is the best automotive chat board I have ever come across, and I've come across a few!
Welcome I too dont have an Fcar but I hope to have one in a few years, its always great logging on here and reading other people experiences with these magical cars.
Hi blonde, another wannabe here - but a car nut also in the industry with at least a little seat time in a 348, 328, 512TR, Mondial and F40. How are you involved? I did PR for Panoz and do it now for Lotus, Aprilia and Tire Rack. Also worked with another chatter on Spike TV's 'Autorox'.
Another welcome to the site and a congrats on doing it in the right order!! You will find so much information here that will help you find the right car! I did things backwards, found the car then this site. Welcome!!
Welcome to the site. We all were future owners at one time. This site is best served by enthusiasts. Come on in and enjoy yourself. Education and entertainment are here for you.
