Hey all I'm interested in purchasing a 360 Coupe with low miles. But i've got some questions what should I watch out for? Any problems from 2001 to 2005? Any new updates recalls anything I should be aware of. It will be with an F1 transmission.

    Thanks,

Yes, watch out for the sudden depreciation as more 430's get on the market.

    Not really. At another $100 - 150 g's there'll still be a good 360 market.

I'm sorry, didn't quiet understand that. Are you saying that with the 430 at 100 to 150 more money the 360 market will remain strong?

Hi and welcome. If the 355-360 model switch over is predictive, the 360 market should firm (and perhaps even go up a bit) as flipped 430's fetch way over sticker. Then, in two to three years, as more used 430's become available at reasonable prices, 360 coupe prices should begin to drift downward. Remember, there were still people on 360 waiting lists at dealers when Ferrari stopped production, and those people did not necessarily get switched to the 430 list (or, if they did, they still might be looking at a 3+ year wait).

Anyway, back to your original question. Do a search of the archives, this question has been asked and answered many times. Depending on the model year, there is a clutch issue, cam variator issue, alarm siren back up battery issue, etc. As most everyone here will suggest, buy a car with a documented history (so that you can confirm all updates/service campaigns done) and get a complete PPI.

    Good luck with your search.

This is hard to tell. I have also done quite a bit of research on the cars and from what I see, the newer 04-05 cars see to be fetching in the low 2's (215-225) for a spider. The 01 02 cars are in the 160-180 range, with under 8,000 miles.
What I plan to do is wait and see, with the new body style coming out, how it will effect the 04 05 cars. Possibly in 6-8 months you will be able to find a newer car with a warranty for the 160-175 range, as guys look to unload their cars for the new ones.
I could be wrong, but with the new ones starting to come about, I wouldnt be in a hurry unless you dont really care about $$.

just my opinion, but the super low miles garage queens, out of warranty, are trouble.

These cars need to be driven.

I agree. Also, when Ferrari went from the 355 to 360, it was the spiders that really commanded the premium.

I remember buying a 1999 355F1 spider for the same price as a 1999 360. But since the 360 spider did not exist and i wanted a spider, that is what i decided to buy (the 355).

Now with the 430 spiders already in the U.S., i dont see how we are going to get a "pop" in 360 spiders. The 430 spider is here, today, not 2 years after the coupe introduction (like the 360s). I see on ebay the 430 coupe for "buy it now" $275k. this is ~85k over MSRP with no bidder at $265k after 9 days. For such a "hot" car that just hit the states, I am surprised. I said it before and i stick with my opinion these will trade for $25k over sticker by the end of the year.

Find a nice car, PPI, insist on all a maintenance records and talk to the owner. I look for a firm price environment. And ENJOY the car.

i totally agree with your analysis..the hype for the 430 spiders and coupes is not what is was for the360s, where people were paying the ridiculous prices for the flipped cars....i dont think anyone is bitting on the 430s...i think at 25k over sticker, people will start to buy..and thats for a spider, perhaps 15-20k over for a coupe...i think the 360 spders will drop 25% in the next two years and the coupes 15%..just a quesss...who really knows the crazy exotic market anyway.????

for sure, you always want to buy right no matter what the item may be. however, all of this talk of f-car value vs. depreciation is really getting tiring. will the 355 market be destroyed by the 360? will the 360 market be affected by the 430 -- who cares? i don't mean to sound cavalier, but buy a 355, 360, or even a 430 and keep it forever, then you can ride it all the way down and back up again. they are not investments (unless you are flipping new 430's), they are cars -- drive them and enjoy. cheers, kelly

If I was planning on keeping it forever than yes, that would be the right mindset. Theres always something, newer, better, faster and more exciting to get, so looking at it as a 2-4 year commitment, I want to know how much money I should expect to lose before I buy.

The best place to get my answers is here with all you guys that have the F cars because you guys have first hand experiance on any problems and maintenance etc. I hope to get my Frist F car very soon so what better place to learn about the car that I will be getting than from the people who drive them :-D One question I have guys is that how much is the maintenance on a 360?

Like do I change fluids every 3K miles? at 15K there's a big engine service bascially the maintenance cycle.

    Thanks.
