I am currently restoring a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC, and the car came with original books, but is lacking a toolkit. Can anyone help me out here? I tried ebay and a google search...any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi, Chris. Welcome to FerrariChat.

Do you have in mind a price you're willing to pay for a complete kit? Does anyone else know what they're going for, or if a 330 GTC toolkit is the same as a 330 2+2?

Welcome to FChat Chris, from another GTC lover.
You need to cough up pictures & serial number pretty quickly!
We've had ours since 1997; still love it. Ours is red/black.
You best be sitting down when you get the tool kit cost information! Tom S. is the goto guy for the kits though.

Almost 24 hours and Tom hasn't yet taken the opportunity to help fund his kid's college fund?

So, can the little one afford Harvard yet or do we need to keep bidding up tool kits for you?

I heard that Tom has moved on to the lucrative human organs and body parts business. You get a lot more bang for your buck in human parts, although many Ferrrari parts are about par with a lung or a liver.
Personally I am about ready to trade one good condition Lung for a equal condition 250 Document Wallet, or maybe a nice condition Jack.

What about my drug (50's Ferraris) habit. Most of you fellows have never seen bills like I have seen over the past 60 days. Burning threw those 1000 bills with accellerant.

So do tell, is it cheaper than hookers and cocaine or do I need to start coming up with new stories to tell my wife?

I'm not sure I feel better now.....
When I thought I was contributing to the future of a child through my donations, that was OK.
Now, to find out I'm just stoking the fires of another unfortunates' addiction; hmmmm...

I would say more, but I'm buying a GTC toolkit from Tom tomorrow! Prudence dictates discretion.

I think you guys should lay off Tom. If Lyle Tanner can do FerrariPartSexChange operations, Tom should be permitted to mix Ferrari Body Parts with Human Body Parts.

See "Repro 250 Toolkit + Wallet" elsewhere in this section.

See www.tomyang.net , Restoration Tips: Toolkit. Also in the Restoration Forum about the kit currently on eBay. Tom Shaughnessy says it's not so desirable.

Kerry Chesbro also has some excellent information on 330 toolkits in his website, http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/330GT.htm .

    Teedubya,

Go to Tom Yang's website at www.tomyang.net . In the center of the home page is a menu with "Ferrari Restoration Forum". Click on it. Then, you'll get another page. Click on "Vintage Ferraris." Scroll down the next page to "Tool Kit" in the "Topics" column. Tom's site is just like this one except it is limited to early V-12 2+2s (1960-72).

After you look at the threads in "Vintage Ferraris", you could click on "Ferrari Links" in the middle of the menu down the left side of the site. Scroll down the "Links" page and click on "Kerry Chesbro's 330GT 2+2 Restoration Site." Kerry's site is about the best on the 330 2+2. He has put a lot of thought, effort and research into it. He has a really good dissertation on the 330 Toolkit.

    Tom T.,

My only correction of your post is that the site has expanded beyond 2+2's to all vintage/classic ferrari V-12 owners who are hands-on.

    Regards,

Well, I guess it is in excellent condition, and seems complete.
But I think "yowza" about sums it up.
Percentage-wise, that's a big chunk of what I paid for my 330, with a pretty complete (but not as pristine) tool kit.

I believe that there were 3 or maybe 4 correct tool kits for a 330 GTC, probably dependent on date of car completion. One piece tool roll with black case, two piece tool kit with brown case, two piece tool kit with brown case with fewer tools.....

If there are 3+ varieties of tool kits, do concours judges knock down points if you have the wrong variety, but it is a factory original tool kit?
