I hope I can make it this year, extraneous circumstances delayed my visit to Monterey last year.

    Probably 2, potentially 3.

If there's a reason one needs to know if one has an Fcar (special parking?), I'll be in the Daytona...

Today I thought I'd confirm the 40 people for this event with Greg the executive chef. When we originally spoke he agreed to up to 40, separate checks and select from the menu. Well now it looks like they don't want to do that.(See below) I called a couple of others on Cannery Row and they are looking for a similar arrangement. Who else on F-chat would be interested in committing for the group? i.e. signing off on the "Banquets Events Policies Agreement." And if not, anyone else have a suitable place and want to arrange it? If nothing comes up I guess everyone's on their own.

    "Hi Scott,

We are also looking forward to your event, and I have adjusted your tentative reservation to 40 people for Friday, August 19th. I will make the reservation permanent once I receive a completed Banquet Events Policies Agreement. Then we can focus on selecting three to four entrees from the Banquet Menu. Once a group grows over twenty five people, we require use of the banquet menu. We can accommodate the separate checks request, but please let your guests know that it will take some extra time to close all transactions, depending on how many checks it ends up being. Also, there will be an automatic 19% gratuity added to each check in you group. As I had indicated, once we draw closer to the date (5 days), we will ask you for a "guaranteed" guest count. You may adjust this count until the day before the event. Basically, you would guarantee the number of folks you are certain will show, and then a high end estimate to set the area for. For example: You guarantee 35 people, but would like the space set for 40. If 34 people show, you pay for thirty five, if 38 show, you pay for 38. The burden to pay for no-shows lies on the person named on the contract.

I understand that this may place you in an awkward position, but these are the measures we must take in order to resave such a large space on such a busy weekend. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and please feel free to call or write back with questions. I will be out untill Friday morning, but Daniel Shinaut, our General Manager will be here to answer questions after 4:30 pm tomorrow, all day Thursday.

    Sincerely,

    Gregory M. Harris

Scott, how about if each of the listed parties confirms, at the appropriate time, their reservation by cc. Then we have a firm count and everybody takes responsibility for their party only. I can understand their stringent need to have a guaranateed response and this way would seem to work. John

    John,

Good idea. I'll call this GM guy tomorrow and propose it. Seems like a win-win. It's also a way to get more of a committment from F-chatters ;)

I just spoke with the GM, Daniel Shinaut, at the Chart House and he is insisting on a credit card to guarantee the event as per the above memo. Rob said he'd do it if he was going. It's unfortunate that the restaurant changed their minds mid stream. So, not unless someone else wants to step up here we don't have an event. Any takers? Thanks!

Too bad the guy is so rigid. What is the problem with individual parties gauranteeing their own reservations with a cc? Especially when they are well heeled and likely to return. Bad business policies happen when flexibility is lost.

Agreed. The guy doesn't want to have to run a bunch of cards. Bottom line is they don't want any risk of no shows on such a busy weekend and night.

Did Daniel say how much it would be for each missing person under 35? Looking at the list, I would think we would be able to fill that. Is it possible that if we're a couple of people short, we can divide that amount among the attendees? If the price isn't ridiculous, I'd be willing to give my credit card. Meanwhile, I'll be spending a lot of time in airports tomorrow and I'll call a couple of restaurants. I'm assuming the date is 8/19, 8:00 p.m., and for 40 people. I wasn't going to bring my computer, but maybe I will now so I can keep in touch.

It's $250 deposit on the card. If you think it's less people than just tell him ahead. Call him tomorrow if you want at the number above and clarify. I can e-mail you the agreement too.

I'll give him a call tomorrow. If you get a chance, please email me the agreement. Hopefully I can get back to everyone tomorrow night (late).

Just starting to get my act together for Monterey - good news is I will likely bring the 348; bad news is will most likely just be me...Mrs. Kevallino is pretty close to full of car stuff for a while.

So adjust me down to 1 for the dinner, assuming it is still on.

    Cheers
    Kevin

No one has committed with a CC at this point. It looks like everyone is on their own. If anyone wants to run with it they are welcome.

I believe there will be too many of us to be able to get into a restaurant that weekend. I had put out a topic a few days ago ( http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69758 ) to meet somewhere like at Concorso Italiano but there seemed little interest. There's a big long thread dedicated to folks people would like to meet, but maybe the reality is different? :)

So, times a wasting. Do folks want to get together for an informal meet and greet or not? I had suggested Concorso since many people will be there with their cars already.

I don't mind accepting responsibility for the credit card. This is a good bunch opf people and I don't think anyone will stiff the person committing on their behalf. Let's agree that once you commit here, you will paypal the funds even if you don't show at the last minute. Ok?

I am happy to commit for the numbers with a credit card.

So, please put me down for the dinner--Faisal, party of one (subject to change). :)

SrfCity, PM me with your phone number, please, and let's get this squared away.
