Is that an anti-rattle clip built onto the back of the pad?

Only on the FRP206 pad. There isn't one on the 253 -- and that's one of the things I can't quite figure out.

There should be a three pronged thingy on the back of one pad (the inside pad) for each pair (both front and rear) - it locates the pad into the piston. The outer pad just sits in the carrier.

Having just replaced my rear pads today & having been into the front end a couple of weeks ago the schematic you posted looks right with the top drawing being the front & the lower one the rear. The only thing that's different on my car (89 ABS) is that the spring clip (part 14) is more of a wire affair at the rear. The front is the flat thing as shown in the drawings.

The front pads also should have the wear sensors built in. Dunno if that helps (!)

Hmmm. I have a set of Porterfield's here at the house. I agree with the FRP206-R4S, but the other pads I have are AP395-R4S. I'll run downstairs and see if they have a clip on the rear...

Yes, just looked. They do have a clip on one pad of each set. Hmmm. Can you verify which number is correct for front pads and rear pads?
I, too, seem to remember a discrepancy with numbering on one of the sets of pads in the catalogue vs. web site.
