Hello, we have a 2001 360 Modena with 5700 miles. Since we have purchased it, weve brought it in to Ferrari of New England (about 1 month ago) just to have them go through it. Since then, our oil level has seemed to go down pretty fast... How much oil should the car be burning per month? It seems like weve gone through at least 2 quarts because there is hardly any oil showing on the dipstick, and Im guessing it was filled up when we brought it in. Also, how many quarts does it take to get the oil from the 1st dot on the dipstick to the 2nd, where its supposed to be? We added 1 quart which didnt seem to change anything... Any input is appreciated

    Thanks

You need to describe exactly how you check the oil level.

I own an '01 360. The car is based on a sump system. Cold, it will show nothing on the dipstick. Oil should be checked immediately after a trip and I do mean, immediately, while the engine is hot. If you are not doing this, and you are adding oil, you're headed for trouble. These cars do not use a lot of oil, generally speaking. Cheers!

If you improperly check the oil level then add oil, you just might have overfilled the system. 360's do not burn oil and rarely do you need to add any.

When in doubt, take it to the dealer and have it done properly. Also, you could overfill the coolant tank if you don't follow the directions per your Ferrari mechanic.
