I'm traveling from Florida back to my old stomping grounds to attend this event...any F-Chatters going to be there? According to the press info, they will be featuring the Italian marques. Should be a great weekend!

I'll be missing out on that, but I will be at ViR the following weekend I believe.

    Dan,

Terrific photographs, but to be "in the mix" and on track with the 250 GT TdeF, the 250 GT SWB, the 250 GTO and the 330 LMB as well as the Birdcage was even better!

We've worked hard to reach out to the movers and shakers like Tony, Bob, Jim and Sandra to share these cars with us at this most remarkable venue.

We're so pleased that happened and look forward to building on that next year. All were complimentary of the on-track and off-track "feel" of the event and promise to come back and bring their friends. We would love to get Todd, Ed and Leslie, John and Peter down here, too.

    Thanks for sharing those!

    Dan,

Those pictures are stunning. Would you be interested in doing a photoshoot with the local FCA crew later this summer?

FYI...the gentleman that owned the GTO has owned it for 37 years! Much of the car was unrestored. What an awesome piece of history!

Did anyone notice the decal on his windshield?

    38 years... <grin>

What's more is that Surtees raced the car first, it went on it's roof at the Nurburgring the following year, it won the Italian GT Championship the next year (the year of the TF tech sticker) and it was purchased out of a classified ad that appeared in the Springfield, Massachusetts newspaper!

Jim haggled with the guy for six or seven months, from the fall of 1966 to the spring of 1967, secure in the knowledge that the guy didn't have many options for selling an "old, beat-up race car."

I think he got the seller down almost $2000, over 25% of the eventual purchase price <very big grin> He's owned it ever since and it's the last car that has not been restored in extant.
