That vid is totally insane. I turned the sound up really loud, then had to dive across the room to turn it down when it hit full RPM!!!

Alright, I will be amazed if anyone can stand the excitement of three (count 'em, three!) dyno runs of the F50 GT1 and not skip over what I have to say here, but here goes anyway. When I was pulling into the shop at about 9:15 on wednesday morning, they were in the middle of a run of the GT1. I had decided to show up a little early so I could watch the runs, so I had a little time to kill. After the F50 GT1 was turned off from the first run (which I didn't get on tape), one of the people came out from an adjoining room, and said that something strange had happened. The SPL (sound pressure level) of the noise had crashed one of the hard drives on a computer in that room. That's how you know something is LOUD. Anyway, about the video:

This is the longer (7:09, 19.8 megs) video with all three dyno runs. The first run is the same as the one in the shorter video, and the next two are where the car really gets cookin' (as if it hadn't before!). In the second run, the driver holds the throttle a little short of full for a whole 12 SECONDS, and the third run is at full throttle for a full 12 SECONDS. What a sound. So without further ado, enjoy the footage!

    Long & Loud

Once again, the BHP & Torque numbers are what Ferrari measured, not what the dyno did here.

Wow! Thanks for the videos and the pictures. I'd love to have been there. I got a chance to hear a few race Ferraris at the American LeMans series. Loud was just not the word to describe them. They are VERY loud but so refined!

Hey, uh, the bandwidth on the site is kind of high, too high. I need to find someone else who could host the two videos. Any help would be much appreciated. About 1600 people have seen the video from this site alone, and about that many more people see it each day. So, if anyone can help, thanks!

    Wow, just amazing sound.
When I had the 355 with straight pipes my son would say he could hear me coming for over two miles through the canyons. Can you imagine how far that sound would carry? Might not make for a peaceful neighborhood situation unless ALL the neighbors were motorheads and you never fired it up early or late!!
    Thanks for the clip.

Neither links work for the videos.

Please fix. I want to hear these videos badly.

OR someone else post them up.

    Thanks!

So what's the big mystery behind this dyno session? It's not like the gov't is testing a top secret "nucular" car engine. Or are they?
For such a rare car, and even rarer opportunity to see/hear it in action, it's a shame not to share.

I beleive I have the copyright to the video because I shot it, edited it, and posted it. However, I have opted to take it down because I have recieved a phone call from someone close to the Stretewerke shop. I have an internship from him, and I do not want to make anyone angry. I will sort out this mess within the next few weeks at worst, and hopefully I can work something out to get these videos back online. If you're really super-desperate to see the short video, just send me a PM; I know some other places this has been posted (it's everywhere).

A slightly different problem: The allowed bandwidth on the host site is reaching its maximum. At the rate this was being shared and distributed, the over-use fees would be humungous. So in the improbable chance that this gets back online, I would need someone else with hopefully unlimited bandwidth to host it.

    Hope you understand.

    Best,
    Eric

Interesting. I saw the video, and I don't understand what the secrecy is about.

The tests seemed well executed so if it was all approved work I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it being shown.

I had 003 stripped down to it's knickers for engine washing etc one saturday and a few guys came and took pictures of it... no idea if they ended up on the net, and couldn't care. It's a special car and the world is a better place for having them around!!

There is a reason the car is on the dyno - it's not there for the power readings. That reason is confidential, and Streetwerke was asked by the people who arranged the dyno session to keep it all under wraps.

I wasn't there, but I now know why the car was there, and it will benefit us all in the near future.
