Car beat a bike on a windy road: probably not. The "A" production cars ran about 2:09s at Sears and do about the same at Thunderhill. At the last endurance race at Thunderhill we were running 1:54s pretty consistently, and at Sears I was running in the 1:50s, so at least as far as I can see, the bikes will win. They don't corner as well, but the brkaing and acceleration, along with the lighter weight makes them a bit quicker on the twisties. Art
.....But check out this website for a company that makes turbo kits for bikes. 300hp on a streetbike! Insane!!!!!! That thing would pull like a banshee. http://www.hahnracecraft.com/cycle/suzuki/suzuki.htm
The last collector car I had was a '69 427 Corvette roadster, got it in summer 1995, sold it in summer 1999, bought Ferrari 12-1-02. Daily drivers over last 10 years have been '85 BMW 635CSi, '99 Toyota 4Runner, '01 VW Beetle. We still have the 4Runner and the '96 Mercury Grand Marquis that my wife inherited from her dad in '02.
I almost installed a 400 HP 350 into my autocross car but sold it to a nice kid in the neighborhood. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Straight line... zzzz...zzzz... oh sorry were you saying something. Real roads like real women have curves.
A 1986 Toyota MR2 (Mark I), had to trade her in for a four door sedan 4 years after getting the Ferrari. Just couldn't justify having three 2-seaters at home.
I think the first time you do an 8 second 1/4 mile you'll change your opinion about ZZZZZZZZZZ. Apples to Oranges anyway. No comparison but why not enjoy both?
What did I drive before my 308? Porsche; did I keep it? no What do I drive AFTER selling my Ferrari? Porsche. Gonna keep it? you bet I am.
Hey Mark G.! Neal K., here. Also went from Porsches to my Ferrari 456M GT. Do I miss my 911 Turbo. Yes, but not at the expense of the 456M. Are you a dissatisfied Ferrari owner? I see we were born in the same year, so I am interested in what you have to say.
I got the '69 roadster, good mechanically but needing some restoration, for a song. I painted it, otherwise spiffed it up, kept it a few years, and sold it for a good profit. Helped finance my Ferrari. That was never my favorite era of Vette and I didn't miss it for one minute after it was gone. The Corvette I'd like to have back is the '63 split-window coupe that I bought for $2400.00 and sold for $2400.00 -- kind of like some of the long-ago Ferrari stories I've read here.
I had a tricked out Fiat x 1/9 that I affectionately called my Ferrari 315 gts. I kept it amd eventually gave it to my brother.
Had a Pantera before the Fcars, still have it. It had 23,000 on it when I got it. It has 123,000 now. It's a keeper! Image Unavailable, Please Login
OOOOOOOOoooooooo, Thats pretty. I tried on a GT5 this weekend and didn't fit. Too big, even with the seat lowered 2". My right leg was jammed between the steering wheel and the console. I tried on a 6.0 Diablo too. No dice. My legs are just too long. Crap!
Previous cars: '82 Celica GTS '91 Dodge Stealth '91 Lotus Elan (still have it) - see picture and I just got a '98 355 Scott Image Unavailable, Please Login
1982 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce and 1980 VW Scirocco. I still have both. I've had the Scirocco since Aug 85, the summer before 12th grade. I still drive it daily.
I have had lots of cars before the Ferrari's it all started with: 1979 Triumph Spitfire (1987) 1973 Porsche 914(Cut my teeth on this one) 198? Renault 1983 Porsche 944 1976 Porsche 3.0 Carrera (One of my Favorites) 1986 Volkswagon Jetta GLI(Best $700 Spent Ever) 1984 Porsche 944 1985 BMW 325es 1985 TVR 280i 1984 Porsche 944 1987 Porsche 944 (Only car I ever Totaled) 1990 Acura Legend Coupe 1974 Porsche 914 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 1973 Porsche 914 (Still Own Today - Love It) 1986 Porsche 928S 1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo 1988 Ferrari Testarossa(Miss this one) 1970 Porsche 911E 1990 Ferrari Testarossa 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE (Still Own - Super Fast) 1974 Triumph TR6 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS(Worst Car Buy I ever made-Correcting Situ) 1987 Porsche Carrera 1995 Audi Cabriolet (Still Own) Jesus I have owned some cars and I am only getting started- I can honestly say that I have never lost money on any of my sports cars except for the 928 and I am sure I will loose my a** on the 308. I am only counting the ones that I owned for any period of time. This is what happens when a kid reading car mags in the 6th grade grows up.
