Can anyone help me out!!! I have a 308 with a driver side window that is intermitantly working. The switch is okay as I have switched with passenger side and it works fine. The fuse on both side work as I tried with the passengers side as well and both are good.
The problem began about four months ago when the window was up and just decided to leave it there as it was in the up position. Then last weekend we were driving in moist conditions {ie rain:( } and i was playing with the switch and the window would go up and down, slow both ways but it worked. The air dried out and one day later the window stopped working as the window was in the fully down position, FIGURES!!! As the car didn't come with a manual window crank I am forced to leave the car parked as I have no way of securing it as well as prevent the elements from staying out.
I am woundering if this may be a contact issue and where should I start looking for the problem. I have taken the door panel off but it looks like quite a job to get at the window motor contacts. Does anyone have any idea of anywhere else i could start looking or just get at the motor and see if the contact points there are poor. How do I get at the motor? Though the speaker hole?
Or can you direct me on the whole issue as I know this is a common problem with the window motors. Was just hoping it wasnt going to be a problem for me. Now it is...
    Helpless in the Okanagan
    Thanks,

Do a quick search and you will find more on this subject than the USGP debacle. Here are a few that helped me when I did mine last year. They work OK now with new grease, but still a little bit of an electricity problem. Somewhere there is a fix to add relays in to supply a more direct current to the motor, which I need to do. While I had the door apart I placed a direct line from a battery to the motor and they went up faster than my Camry's. For some reason my window go up faster with the doors open, also electrical related. The cleaning the grease job really sucks, but it is worth it.

Before you go to the slow window motors fix, the first thing you should try is to take out the switch, and clean it with a liberal amount of contact cleaner/enhancer. Also, find the grounds, and fuses and clean with contact enhancer. This solves alot of problems with intermittantly working switches.

For a contact enhancer, I use Deoxit (http://www.caig.com/), which is available locally at Radioshack. It is fairly cheap, and suppsedly better than Stabilant-22, which a lot of people swear by.

I don't know if you can find Stabilant-22 locally, but I recall that Daniel at Ricambi America stocks it.

Either one will work fine, in my experience.

Thanks for the ideas. What it looks like is the wiring that goes through between the door and the car body has been weakend. The motor looks new and after taking it out, wished I didnt do that:(!!!, and got a good connection the window shoots up and down like it was new. Going to put a new wiring harness together and clip off the old and attach the new and it should be as good as new. The problem now is the window only goes down about half way as I seem to have messed up the cabling. Will have to fiddle with it to get it right. Does anyone have a diagram of what the cabling should look like. Is for the '85 308 , not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help and glad I don't have to repack the cable winder at least for now.

I had problems with my windows as well. Replaced the fuse blocks with Birdmans updated ones(@$50) and all is well. You would be very surprised to see how bad the backside of the blocks are even though the front looks great. Mine had cracks and apparent melting on the back while the front looked new..
