I've asked my friendly local MOT chap if he would pass my "soon to be 94' 348" at MOT time if I removed the CATS. He said no, as the system was now computerised and he would be forced to fail it. How does everyone else pass the MOT without Cats?
I see you are london based, well give Joe Macari a call for Advice on this one.... they are very helpful down there. My car needs an Mot soon, Ive got no CATS and it will be going to Joe's.
Simon are you getting the GTB from NC's ? Hope so, make sure you post as soon as... In answer to your question about the decats. Post 92 will fail with decat pipes, what you need to do is to have the car tested with the cats on, then pop the decats back on. Okay, the overall cost may be £200 squids each year, but the sounds more than compensates for the cost. That's probably the only advantage a 91 348 has over a 94 348!!
Don't even tell them... mine passed it's last MOT still with it's cats on, but when Strasse took them off, they found there were no insides in them anyway!, either collapsed and cleaned out or deliberately punched out! OR... get the guys that do your Tubi to also do the MOT OR... take it to a little garage that don't know Ferraris and are so over the moon to get one in they don't care what the reading is..."oh, it's a race bred engine, they all run a little rich, didn't you know?"
My 456 had cat replacement (straight through) pipes fitted 18 mths ago or more. Took it for MOT to a place in Wembley this spring and totally forgot to mention it or ask about it. Car passed all emissions tests. Not sure how to explain this. Perhaps lack of cats not an issue if the car has been running for half an hour before the MOT.... J.
If you get it done by a specialist ferrari dealer and tell them beforehand that you dont have cats then for some reason the car will amazingly pass the emissions..... otherwise wobbler hit the nail on the head with what most garages do.....
