Not a photoshop. If you search around, you can find some pics of Agassi & someone else playing tennis up on the heli-pad. Also some pics of Tiger Woods driving some balls off into the water from up there.
yep, searched some more and edited my post, the first one kinda looks like a P-shop though, thats what i thought before i found a ton more pics.
The power of the internet is amazing. Found these pics in under 2 minutes. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe that hotel keeps Phantom's on hand for the guests to take out on the town. I'm not sure how many they have, but I think it is close to 30 RR for their guests.!!
It's called the Burj-al-Arab, located in Dubai (U.A.E.) I am planning on staying there during my middle east/europe trip in a few years.
Not that I hope it all goes to crap over there but I bet it would be fun to pop the base of that thing with a pair of sidewinders.
been there very over the top, but awe inspiring none the less. There's a fountain inside that shoots water up in a pressurized jet some 30+ stories. Hard to describe but pretty cool to watch. Also features an incredibly good seafood restaurant and the Jumerah Beach hotel next door (the one that looks like a wave in the picture) has one of the best brunches ever From the sea the two next to each other look like a sailboats sail next to an oncoming wave. pretty cool stuff. cheers, d
The company that built this, Jumeirah, is planing to go international, going head to head against Four Seasons, et al. Should be in interesting few years coming up in the hotel business...
I was there in March this year. The hotel is truely amazing. Breathtaking in fact. You can only book suites which is one of the (many) reasons why its so expensive. but well worth the money.
Sidewinders are smallish air to air missiles...... they would break some glass and make a mess but really wouldn't do a whole lot.
Does the $75 US for all people, including those who are guests? What if they leave and then come back? Whats the average rate for the hotel? $80 million actually seems alittle low for some reason. The island is man-made, and the design is extreme, and all the design specs are over-the-top. For some reason, it looks incredible. It's very over-the-top, but it's not gawdy to me. I kinda wonder what the penthouse/top suite goes for. How is the service? The hotel owner, Jumeirah, what are the expansion plans? Would they build to the same level and price of this hotel? http://www.burj-al-arab.com/
The seafood restaurant is a separate business entity. There is a connecting walkway to it from the hotel at the shore, the Jumeirah Beach hotel, but it has been in existence since before the Burj Al-Arab opened. The food is excellent, but be prepared to wait for a long time. The Jumeirah Beach hotel itself has an excellent restaurant at the top with a breathtaking view as well.
I know a guy in the high end hotel business and he told me that, while the place is awesome, there isn't much around it in terms of shopping or anything else. So, if you want to be "in the middle of it all" this isn't the place for you.
Ur right its a drive from the city centre which suited us fine. We wanted to get away from it all to somewhere quiet. But u can always have the Rolls or mercs take u to the city when you want so not really a problem. Depends what u want really.
Plus they are heat seekers - you'd have to have somebody fire up a hibachi at the desired points of impact Now a pair of Hellfires...that'd make a bigger mess.
There's all sorts of crazy/extravagent developments going up in Dubai like the World which is a bunch of islands off the coast designed to resemble different parts of the world and the Palm which is designed to look like a palm tree from the air. Most of the top tier developments in Dubai are being done by Nakheel which is owned by some Sultan. Check them out: The World: http://www.theworld.ae/ The Palm: http://www.thepalm.co.ae/ Nakheel Corp Site: http://www.nakheel.com/nakheelweb/ -R
