The speedometer has been working fine (albeit it appeared to be a little slow to catch up with the speed of the car when accelerating hard...) and today after starting-up, the needle on the speedometer doesn't move at all.

    Any suggestions?!

The usual on a 20 year-old Mondial. Check and clean connections, fuse, relay.

I just bought a new sensor from Lyle Tanner for $160. I was VERY suprised at that price.

I am VERY suprised at that price too.

Dennis McCains has them for $90.

    Thanks for the advice.

I've been through what connections I can identify and have cleaned them - fuses all OK - and presumably a faulty relay would kill more than just the speedometer and everything else appears to be working.

It looks like the Speedometer itself has been removed in the past as the lugs on the trim bezel have been damaged. May be something here, but as for what to look for...

I will replace the sender on the gearbox - anyone have the part number? I've been trawling through the offical Ferrari classic parts website and so far I can't find it!

Im having exactly the same problem. Replaced the sensor (from Kent High Performance) but still not working. Its taken out the milometer too which isnt a bad thing as I've just done 900 odd mile Le Mans and back. Really appreciate it if you find and cure the problem and let me know!
    Cheers

My odometer is still working, so my money is on the speedometer head being the culprit. I've ordered a new sensor and speedometer (all cheaper than I anticpated at £134.00 plus VAT for the two!) and I will replace the speedometer first before dropping in the new sensor.

I'll let you know what the outcome is.

The parts were purchased from Ferrari UK - it appears their prices are pretty good for some parts when compared to the 'independents".

Fixed - the speedometer head itself was broken. Easy enough to remove the dial, but getting at the connector buried behind the dash was time consuming and neccessitated a few expletives!

I now have a spare sender on the shevles ready for when that goes!
