The Ferrari Challenge is coming up soon at LimeRock and I dont see anything about it on this site.
    Is anyone planning on going?
I went to the Ferrari Chalenge at Mont Treblanc this past week / weekend and had a blast. Great cars, great cars and great racing.
I also had an opportunity to do hot laps in a Challenge car at lunch time. Thrill of a lifetime!!!
    Who's going?

Will be there from Monday through Sunday. Doing the Skip Barber 3-day course earlier in the week. It will be good to know the track before the actual FCA event as have never been to L.M. plus S.B. school will be a great experience.

I am planning on being there friday ans saturday. Does anybody know if theyre doing the parade lap thing on satuday, it was a real blast last year if you stayed at the back.

Steve did the skip barber 3 day last month, its reaaly intense and great, taught me how much there is to learn. Might head up mon morning for a few hours of the alms.

Is there a spot where people are planning on parking? would enjoy meeting some of the fellow f chatters.

Lime Rock is telling callers that it's a Friday-Saturday event because . . . it's a Friday-Saturday event. :) Thursday is NOT open to the general public (and no tickets are for sale). Rather, it's practice day for the racers, with track sessions for Ferrari/Maserati owners who have purchased packages through their dealers.

N.B., check out the FCA/NER website for full details, including free admission and lunchtime parade.... :)

Hey! I had better open that letter that I got from Maserati! I just threw it in the pile to open later and haven't gotten around to it. I wonder if it is too late to RSVP for that?

Note that this is for the ALMS event THIS weekend, the Ferrari/Maserati historics and challenge races are NEXT weekend.

    Dennis,

Is there any way a fellow SCDA driver and non-Ferrari owner can get some action on Thurs?

    Regards.
    Ted

PS By action I mean hang out and perhaps bum a ride or 2...
    thanks.

The event was the Ferrari Challenge Race at Mont Treblanc. They raced vintage disk and drums and 360 Challenge cars.
I was offered a ride at lunch by FMNA, Corporate as I work for Bose and we are corporate sponsers.
They put me in an actual 360 Challenge race prepared car that was fitted with a second seat. I think it was a factory car, with a factory driver.
As I said, thirill of a lifetime.....
I also was fortunate enough to meet a few members from the local club, one guy even tossed me the keys to his Testarossa. 12 Cylinders rock!
It was a great event. I'm looking forward to LimeRock.
As Dennis said, Thursday is a press day and I dont think its open to public, the event takes place Fri and Sat. You will need to verify this on your own.
    Thanks
    - Ron

I'm also going to the Lime Rock Ferrari Racing Days weekend and will be driving in the owners' "Sport" group along with BigHead Dennis and the rest of the Team Pilota gang.

I was also at Tremblant last weekend's Challenge/Vintage racing event... it was FANTASTIC. There was a great turnout of vintage cars and many of them will also be at Lime Rock. The final Challenge race on Saturday was a demolition derby, with the field driving behind a safety car for what seemed to be at least half of the 45 minute race. There were two accidents right in front of us as we watched from the paddock by the final hairpin turn before the front straight.

Had a blast driving with other FCA members between Challenge and Vintage sessions, including John from Vermont in his 348 and Vince from here in Connecticut in his 333SP. For those of you who were there, I had one of the two 355 Challenge cars (mine was the Barchetta Red #23). FNA was liberal in allowing us to take passengers, and I hope we'll be able to take passengers next weekend too.

Hope to see many of you at Lime Rock.

    Regards,
    Charlie

Not to be a wet blanket or anything, but....

Ted, you *may* be able to get into the track on Thursday, but I'd hate to see you schlepp all the way out there and get shut out. Last year, they were pretty strict about security on Thursday (it's full-on security guards and restricted parking, blah blah, and NOT at ALL like a regular SCDA or D.E. day). Could you talk your way in? Maybe, but no guarantees - the guards were even enforcing parking restrictions for tow vehicles!

Re passengers; Charlie, glad to hear that you could give rides at Tremblant. Alas, the restriction AGAINST giving rides at LRP is not due to the club or FNA or whatever. Rather, it's the TRACK'S policy - absolutely no rides unless the driver is an accredited instructor. This is why the FCA does not permit passengers during its LRP events but does allow passengers at WGI - different track policies.

Having pee'd over everything, nevertheless let me say that it WILL be a fantastic time. Remember, all FCA club members driving a Ferrari/Maserati will be allowed in on Fri/Sat for FREE, with a reserved parking corral and lunchtime parade laps around the track. Check out our region's website for more info.

    vty,

    --Dennis

    Dennis,
Do you know if you need a helmet for the parade laps?
Do you need to bring you FCNA card to gain access to the parking?
Looked on the site and did not see answers to these questions.
    Thanks

No helmet required for parade laps. Did it last year with my wife...Its neat, but also like driving to the Cape in traffic! Read slowww.

No card required as long as your driving a Ferrari or Maserati.
Doubt they would turn away a Lambo either
