This loophole meant wealthy foreigners would move to Switzerland and spend they €/$/£ there all year long . Now there wont be a reason for a rich individual to move to switzerland from germany/france/england or wherever..

Several F1 drivers (and other celebrities) live in Switzerland and not just for the tax heaven. You also get a pretty environment, stable political climate, central location in Europe and discret people, who don't harass you every step of the way.

As far as MS is concerned, whatever works for him. He gives enough to Charities, screw the Politicians and their Draconian Tax Laws regardless of the US or Germany.

The way I read what you're saying is that you believe paying taxes is tantamount to donating money...wow! that's an interesting angle!.....I (legally)avoid paying all the taxes I can, as lawmakers (in BOTH parties) in the US have consistently proven they're unmatched in their ablity to waste MY money. Likewise, I have consistently shown that I know better how to spend my money than they have.......you BETCHA I'm on MS's side of this issue!

I don't complain much. Just the governments' way of keeping score.

Tax all you want, I'll make more.

I think you have mis read me. I do hope that everybody, surely as we are all adults, realises that we pay (call it donate if you like  ) taxes so the governments of each of our countries can actually run them. Yes we can debate for the rest of our lives that they do not spend it wisely, but without taxes, we would not have:
    - Schools,
    - Sewage systems,
    - Roads (that we all enjoy!),
    - Care for the elderly,
    - Health systems, etc.

Thus by dodging your responsibilities as an individual that HAS in the past used those systems (yep we have all taken a cr@p) ... then you are saying to everybody else:

"Thanks, but I'll not help you!"
And one option, instead of just moaning about it, is to get involved and help them spend it better, ie. either vote, or get involved with your council. Heck maybe you do ... but many just like to knock from a distance without knowing how it really works. I'm not either (ie. involved) and thus everytime I think of questioning it ... I remind myself that I have a choice, ie. I can get involved and help ... and that makes me shut up for a while ;)

Yet again that saying that many non-rich people use is been proved true, ie:

"The rich get rich because they are stingy selfish b@stards that will walk all over anybody ..."

I say have a good look at yourselves ... you are already rich (as is MS), but this is how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Pete who is probably poor in comparison to 90% of the posters on this site! ...

ps: I believe the USA might have different systems and thus (for example) health care is provided differently. Most/many countries though have tax subsidized health systems ...

ps2: And BTW MS would have got a huge tax break for donating that money ... not at all saying that is why he did it, but that fact is still true, and a good and valid reason for a tax break.
