Dont read below if you dont want to know what features in the Top Gear race tonight ! Is a car faster than a boat. An epic race from London to Oslo with Clarkson in a McLaren SLR and Hammon and May on a boat !!! Thought the last two races were superb, looking forward to tonight's
Waste of half an hour of potential propper tyre smokin', and without wanting to sound too middle aged, I don't think it's funny to suggest driving 18+ hours until you can't keep your eyes open any longer. Not big or clever IMO. That's why long distance lorries have tachographs. Being hit by a ton an' a half Merc at 160mph is gonna sting a little.
i thought it was great to see them in the boats in a rough sea as been there down that and still get sea sick and had a boat sionce 1980 50mph in rough water is like 150 mph in a car very frightning
Fair point Steve, a boat on water at 50 feels flippin' quick, and I hope the Hamster was sick not just play acting!!! ..... but here's a question... If JC was "flat" all the way through France, Germany, Holland etc.... who the **** was driving the camera car, what was it, and where do I get one..
Usually Tuesday at 7. I thought it was a bit boring last night really. Clarkson drives until he's tired, other two try to get ahead and take the piss out of him while doing so. Same as the other two only this time it took up an entire episode minus the celeb' spot and the 'news'.
Couldn't really see the point of it. Just fly to f***ing Oslo and be done with it! Took way to much time out of a good TV prog. Whats next.......how much quicker is a car than a horse to Ascot? Boredom has now set in zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The Aston Martin DBR9 was worth seeing (just wish I had seen more of it at Le Mans now !!) JC then flew back to London from Oslo - who had the job of driving the SLR home - or did they put take it back on the ferry (quite ironic) Rick
If JC was going as fast as he could, then how do they get all the pictures from the side of the road etc? I'd like to know what his petrol bill was. Enjoyed watching H&M on the boat. What did anyone think of the Alfa?
Alfa looked stunning. I noticed in the Sunday Times Driving section that a mag after the show that the 159 has most of the same styling details - the lights, doorhandles etc. That will also be a stunning car for a saloon.
That was my biggest problem with this so called "race". The camera car was always there, in front of, along side of, or behind the SLR. The camera was stationary and filming from the roadside on numerous occasions. It was all so rigged, unless they had 25 separate camrea crews dotted all over Europe.
