But ammo is much harder to find, as are magazines, and the difference in accuracy (if any) is negligible, since AK-47s and -74s are both built to about the same, relatively loose, tolerances.

You are right, AK's were designed for war, not shooting range.

I like the 74's more. When I got my Romanian 74, it came with 4 high capacity mags, and a scope rail + cheapo scope. Compared to my Bulgarian 47, its not as well built, but its lighter and more 'toy like'.

Nik, close, its a 5.45mm. Good round. Rugged works because then I can be lazy and not clean it/maintain it/etc. So let me be lazy with it. :D

They (ak's) are fun on private ranges with lots of old soda cans....
G3 clones can be had cheap from various places like Portugal. I recommend it, I ADORE my G3 clone.

the ak 47 is by far the better weapon in my opinion. i ve owned one for years. only buy russian ak, the chinese guns blow !!!!!!!!!!! known fact, during the vietnam war the ak was very reliable, would work if it got muddy or wet. some of the american soldiers would toss their weapons only to use the ak 47. its a sweet weapon. the only down side is the rounds i get are corrosive, which means you better clean your gun the same day after using or it will bind up. its very acurate and very powerful. i once attached a crank on the trigger, i couldnt even go through an entire magazine, i couldnt keep the gun pointed straight.
